PRESSURE The pressure to succeed is a dominating force in Kennedy High School. From the time a student awakes in the morning to catch up on some last minute studying until the time he falls asleep trying to finish an English assignment, he is faced with this pressure to succeed. In order to convey the plight of a pressured student, we will simulate a typical day in Kennedy High School. 7:00 AM: Peter Pressure awakens to the beckoning of Imus. Rolling out of bed, Peter attempts to master his endless list of useless Calculus fomiulas. 8:00 AM: After parking his super charged Trans Am between the Mercedes 450SEL and the Silver Seville, Peter enters the Kennedy Pressure cooker. 8:15 AM: ENGLISH: Peter must read and memorize the Koran, New and Old Testament, and Brian's Song. He must then compare the four works citing specific references from memory. 9:00 AM: SPANISH: After singing in spanish Love will keep us togetherv, Peter must write a new constitution for the Republic of Columbia. fDue next momingj 9:45 AM: No one listens to the announcements, except Peter who wants to get information on the next Diners Club meets. 10:00 AM: AP BIO: Peter is assigned a 60 page, typed in blood, termpaper on Cocyx Humanitosis Scyotlic Myombriurn fcommon name: hurpingj 10:45 AM: Peter, who had to relieve himself, was late for gym. The punishment was to run to Boston, get accepted to Tufts University, and retum. 11:30 AM: Peter, who has been stopped to pay a toll on the Tacoma Bridge, was tired, lonely, and depressed, yet, he retumed on time for physics to take a surprise Unit Exam worth the usual 23.805 points. 12:15 PM: LUNCH: Peter uses his lunch period to memorize some more useless calculus fonnulas. He is stumped on one formula yzoos' X 9X1 -32Csec3 J k - csc4 How will he survive life without this formula? E f -me ig, 'tl 1:00 PM: PUBLIC SPEAKING: Today Peter has been chosen to give the only impromptu speech of the year. His topic: Cefilte fish. 1:45 PM: CALCULUS: Math test canceled until tomorrow. Go to enrichment. 1:47 PM: Enrichment: Peter falls alseep at enrichment program. Awakened by an Enrichment Lady, Peter is given a lecture on his total disconcern for school and his lack of motivation. Punishment: Prepare an Enrichment program comparing Cefilte Fish to Burps, to The Koran, New and Old Testament, and Brian's Song. 3:00 PM: Peter has several meetings to attend: Fly Swatters Club Billirubin Fan Club Future Cafeteria Ladies of America The Chinese Club 4:30 PM: Peter arrives home, He has time to watch Mike Douglas for six minutes, of which four were commercials and a 60 second Emergency Broadcast Test. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep. 6:00 PM: Peter has no time tonite 6:04 PM: Peter has three Alumni Interviews in Westhampton, Syosset and Lynbrook. 8:00 PM: Peter begins to study for the SAT's. Some of the words on his list which he has never heard of are . . . sleep, relaxation, and fun His mother informed him that these words were no-no's 10:30 PM: Re-study calculus 11:00 PM: College Applications 11:30 PM: Peter decides to turn a new leaf and not study in school 12 :Ill PM: The Hell with this Peter pops a Quaalude and dies. .J- mmm YMt wws-Q. 199 A
