A yearbook is hardly complete until it helps to organize the events of that year, so, here are a few of the victories and defeats of Kennedy High School and the world in general while we, the Class of 1980, were struggling to hand in a report on time, or to make up gym classes, or to learn new math theorems, or to meet yearbook deadlines, or to . . . The term senior yeari' has grown to be synonymous with fun, new experience, and lack of restraint. The image of the ideal senior has been shown to us various times - in books, movies and television shows - yet, each student must find out for himself what is fact and what is fiction. For many, the senior year is a time of anticipation. VVhat will I score on my S.A.T.'s? VVhat college will I attend? Where will my best friend go to college? Who will I go to the prom with? Will I even go at all? For others, the senior year is a time to work hard, to take difficult courses which will help to refine their personalities before they go off to face the academic challenges of college or the real life problems of the working world around us. For still others, the senior year is a time for rest and relaxation, for hanging out and listening to music, for unwinding before losing their identity with the fantasy world of childhood. The Senior Class of 1980 for Kennedy High School was no different. We grew up in a rapidly changing world, and as the world changed, we changed right along with it, and each of us grew just a little bit. just think, high school is over now, forever. Yet the memories remain. just like different songs remind us of certain times in our lives, and just like certain people make us feel a certain way, so do the events of our senior year in high school stir our emotions and probe into our memories for what will soon be termed, the good old high school days. And as time marches on, our memories will all grow and become distorted, but they will always be our memories, and they will always be funny or sad or whatever we want them to be at that time. And just like an old fisherman allows the one that got away to grow two feet longer each time he retells his brave story, so will grow the bouncer at the first bar you sneaked into with your phony identification. I can hear it already, I swear, he was about nine feet tall and his biceps were thicker than that old oak tree in front of my house . . . 'i
