If I fail to learn this junk, I pray the Lord I won’t flunk. If I do, don’t pity me at all; Just lay my bones in study hall. Tell my teacher, I did my best. Then lay my books upon my chest. Now I lay me down to rest. To pray I’ll pass tomorrow’s test. If I should die before I wake, That’s one less test I’ll have to take. 1981-82 Mike Mitchell Todd Strickland Henry Robinson Ben Poole Sammy Moore Ricky Harton 36 FOOTBALL Doug Elmore Lloyd Jones O’Neal Hayden Mark Trull Mark Cook Jimmy Agerton Coach James Reed 37 FIGHTING JACKETS SENIORS 39 JR. When he falls in the way of temptation, he has a hard battle to fight. Who strives against self and his comrades, will find a most powerful foe. All honor to him if he conquers, a cheer for the boy who says “No!” There’s many a game fought daily, the world knows nothing about. There’s many a brave player, whose strength puts a team to rout. And he who fights to win singlehanded, is more of a hero, I say, than he who quits the battle, and conquers by arms in fray! WANTED Behind the Scene ... Daydreaming won’t make the grade. Escaped Patient! I’ve never shaken hands with a star before. “SENIOR-NITE” 91 Last Will and Testament We, the Seniors of 1982, being of sound mind and body, establish this, our last will and testament. I, Brent Aldridge, will my jam to Eddie Patchen, because I don’t want a mark on them. The Junior Class would play frisbee with them. Ann Atkins wills her ability to pass accounting to David Long. I, Mary Blaylock, will my ability to change from blue jeans to an evening gown in the car, because something was spilled on it, to Janet Brazeal. Lois Campbell wills her high heel shoes to David Long’s girlfriend. Doug Elmore wills his ability to wreck the Vo-Tech bus to Keith Nabors. Dana Gilliam wills all of her senior year responsibilities and duties to anyone that can handle them. Danny Gilliam wills his ability to figure out geometry problems to Gina Crowley. Lawana Higdon and Debbie Johnson will their expertise in the lumber business to Dusty Holsonback. Tammy Long wills her ability to miss the last two weeks of school and still pass to Sherry Shelton. Mike Mitchell, Lisa Rasberry, and Karen Vice leave their ability to have three different dates all in one night (without getting caught) to Rene Vice, Donna Savage, and Mark Trull. I, Ben Poole, leave my athletic ability to Butch Carson. I, Jeff Rushing, will my ability to put up with Danny, Ben, and Mike to Jerri Wallace. Camilla Shelton wills her red hair to Gail Cooper. 92 Class Prophecy As I was sleeping the other night, I had a dream of the seniors ten years from now! Jeff Rushing, after taking Karate classes, now has his blackbelt, and is instructor at the Ken- nedy Karate Club. Danny Gilliam, after doing so much research on amnesia for his term paper, finally got his PH.D. in psychiatry. The only problem is, he can’t remember it! Ann Atkins is now a neat little housewife with two children. She lives in Vernon. She is president of the Rose Garden Society. Brent Aldrige (if you can believe it) doesn’t own a Styx song anymore! Instead, he has turned to Merle Haggard and Mel Tillis. All you can hear him sing now is, “Working At a Sawmill.” Ben Poole is living in Kennedy with his wife and four children. He owns and operates Ben’s Bar Grill on the hill. Debbie Johnson is a registered dietician. She throws parties for her patients instead of preparing their meals. Tammy Long is now a farmer and owns acres and acres of land. As she always wanted, she has adopted several children from the jungles of Africa. They help her tend the land. Doug Elmore and Lawana Higdon got married right after graduation. Lawana helps Doug out in the woods, what time she isn’t running the machines and Doug into the trees. Karen Vice and Lisa Rasberry are stll single and are roommates in Dallas. As for anything else, I’m afraid to look that far! Dana Gilliam is now a registered nurse in a huge hospital. She wants to get married to these two doctors, but can’t make up her mind which one: the one that’s got a condominium in Hawaii, or the one that can give her diamonds on every finger! Mike Mitchell now lives in New York where he owns half of the New York Mets. In his spare time he is throwing benefits for the symphony orchestra and jamming to the music! Camilla Shelton, after being a red head for so long, has dyed her hair blond. She is working at a desk from 9-5 and singing “He’ll Come Again!” Lois Campbell now has a television program where she explains new cooking techniques. It’s called “Cooking with Lois!” Mary Blaylock, after being switchboard operator at the hospital, now is president of the Bell Telephone Operators Union. 93 GRADUATION Good Citizenship Girl Boy Dana Gilliam Brent Aldrige A Senior’s Prayer Lord, why is it happening so fast? The time is coming so near. The time when I have to leave this world, And all my friends so dear. Lord, I’m not ready to leave just yet, There’s so much I haven’t done. I’m afraid to leave this school behind, To say good-bye to everyone. There’s a fear inside I know nothing about. It is a fact that I’ve got to face, That when tomorrow quickly arrives, I’m going to leave this wonderful place. I’m scared of the world that lurks out there, and all I’ll have to do. Lord, just help me for guidance and strength, to always look to you. Kennedy High’s a “Grand Ole School” as I’m sure everyone knows. And no matter where I stay or go, God, I love that school so! 95 Debbie Johnson — Valedictorian Ann Atkins — Salutatorian TOP FIVE SENIORS Mary Blaylock Karen Vice Lisa Rasberry 96 FADS OF 1982 Favorite Movies T.
