EVELYN DAVIS Ele”enth Twelfth Grade CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 191 6, Mrs. Addle Baker started us on our way to being seniors. We started with fifty pupils. Of that fifty we now have eleven of the original class. They are: Don Newman, Larry Newman, Leon Vice, Donal Max Wheeler, Brook Wilson, Sidney Earl Davis, Margene Foster, Grace Hunnlcutt, Annie Faye Owens, Julia Nell Owens, and Banks Prater. As we went up we lost some and gained some. We were sorry to see those go that we lost and proud to receive those that came. In 1952 Miss Douglass started us on our high school schedule . We didn’t have her for a teacher long. Mrs. McAdams took her place. She stayed with us for two years. Our Junior III sponsor was Mr. Bill Carpenter. We entered senior high In 1955 Mrs. Junkins worked with us faithfully that first year In senior high. The same year we gained eight students from Belk. They are all still with us except one, Edsel Aldridge. We also lost Arneeder Owens. In the 11th grade Mrs. Evelyn Davis came back to take our class after being out for a few years. That same year we gained Arlle Wallace but lost him In a few months along with Jean Barrett, Katherine Crowley, Elols Hudson and Jerry Nabors. We also gained Barbara Ann Rose. Mrs. Davis Is with us again this year. We were very fortunate to have her for two years. Going Into our senior year we lost James Taylor and Laynette Atkins. We were very glad to welcome Sara Faye Wilson back into our class. As we come to the close of our twelve years at Kennedy High School we leave with regret, but as we go we take with us fond mem- ories of each teacher and each day. We hope we leave with the teachers memories that they will treasure through the coming years. Class Historian Sidney Earl Davis CL iSS PROPHc-CY I had a dream In which 20 years had passed. In it I saw all of my classmates. Some of them were doing well, some were just happy, but all of them had the memory of our school days in their hearts. David aldrldge was a general in the US. Air Force and had completed his fourth trip around the world. Bobby Foster was in Mexico, as a great bull fighter. Wayne Gilreath was the owner of Gilreath Gin Aarehorse and had become a better businessman than any Gilreath before him. Kennedy's new football coach had an undefeated team for four years. Who could this coach be? None other than Bruce Hamner'. Don Newman was working at Long-Lewis Hardware Store. Larry Newman was a very highly honored person; he was expected to be the next president of the United States. Leon Vice was trapping mink in the Luxapalila bottom. In his spare time he makes trios to the moon with no stops. Donald Max Wheeler was a big star in Hollywood. He was now playing in Tarzan and the Aoe —as the ape of course. I saw Brooks Wilson in his fine sports car at modern art shows, at night clubs, and at the unempl iyment office. Julia j] Owens was so quiet in school that she had become a most off icientTfbrarian. Nixola Porter was another one to go into the housewife profession. Banks Prater was married to an explorer and was on an expedition. Mary Helon Prater was driving around in a pretty car. What kind was it? Why, a Buicki Clara Richards and her husband owned a large chain of restaurants. Barbara Ann Rose was a scientist working on the U.S. satellite. Shelby Jean Taylor was a good housewife to her husband and a good mother to her children. Sara Faye Wilson was living in California. Jerry had a very good job. They owned a mansion in Beverly Hills. Nellie Foster was married to the mayor of Belk. They lived in a beautiful rose-covered cottage overlooking Belk. Ruth Gilreath had 26 proposals for marriage since she won the ?6iyD00 question. Grace Hunnlcutt and Essie Pearl Johnson tied for the title, House- wife of the Year . Carolyn Moore was a famous dress designer. The women had changed from the Dior look to the Moore look. Frances Moore.who was a secretary in an interior decorator's office was doing well for hersplf. She married her boss last June. Waurene Newman had become famous for her typing skill of l80 wpm. Antrlyn Aldridge was happily married and living in Tuscaloosa. She passed her time by counting the money her husband made at the airport. Katherine Aldridge was working in Washington for the FBI. Marguerite Caraway was owner of a large chain of garment plants. The contract was underway for two new plants in Kennedy and Belk. Ratha Carroll whs a receptionist in Birmingham. She came back about twice a year to spend her vacation with her mother. Sidney Earl Davis was living in a beautiful pink home in Reform. A set of twins were trotting around at her heels. Margene Foster was happily married and living in Millport. Her hus- band was singing with the Blackwood Brothers. Since Travis Johnson was so kind-hearted to everyone, he had become a millionaire. He gave away money to the needy people. Katherine Watkins was busy bending out fenders for her father-in-law. Annie Faye Owens was in Hollywood taking Lucille Ball's place on I Love Lucy . Then suddenly I awoke before I could find out what had happened to Class Prophet Barbara Wiggins LAST WILL A TO TESTAMENT We, the Seniora of 1958, being sound of mind and body, do hereby be- queath to the following, this, our Last Will and Testament, Anglyn A,1 lirldgA leaves her ability to do her homework at the last minut to Jerry Weathers.
