We couldn't understand all about school at first. In the first grade there were 46 of us. Some were retained in the first grade. Five new ones were added to our group in the second grade. As time went by, up to the sixth grade. Ruby Lee Gilliam, Britt Duke, Charles Freeman, Sue Moore, Troy Porter, Evelyn Johnson, and Ellaweese Holsonback were added. During this period we learned from our books and also how to get along with other people. In the seventh grade we gained Doris Wilson. We had a hard time learning our different rooms. It was a great, but pleasing step. By the time we finished the eighth grade we had learned our way better. We learned in the nineth grade that the rest of the high school students were very friendly toward us and we lost our fear of them The new students to enter our class in the tenth grade were Carolyn Caraway, Gay Crowe, and Betty Carroll. Rachel Long was also advanced into our group. In the eleventh grade we lost Claudia B. Owens, Luther Rushing and gained Iva Jean Gardner and Marvin Wheeler. During our Senior year we have lost Virginia Rushing, Margaret Foster, and Billie Mae Brown through matrimony. Opal Fay McCool left us to work. We are now graduating with 30 members. There are 14 of the 1+6 original members who have been together twelve years. They are as follows: Carol Ann Taylor, Owel Newman, Wayne Tomlin, Martha McDaniel, Dollie Mae Gilliam, Martha Crawley, Faye Stembridge, Clara Jean Stripling, Lynn Aldridge, Harvey Collins, Jerry Moore, James Owens, Bobby Porter, and Theo Taylor. Now we have reached our first milestone and face life with a smile. Dollie Mae Gilliam BABY PICTURES Class Prophecy As I, Carol Taylor, sit here dreaming of the years in the future, I can see my classmates as they each find their place of happiness and success in life. Rachel Long I see Rachel Long head nurse at the Druid City Hospital in Tus- caloosa. A handsome doctor helps her with any problems that may occur, in- cluding her heart trouble. James Owens I see James and Flora Nell rolling in the money since he has taken over the Bryant Manufacturing Company in Millport. Ella Weese Holsonback Since Jimmy is head of American Bosch, Ella Weese has quit Westinghouse to care for Jimmy Jr. They are making their home in Columbus, Mississippi. Jerry Moore Jerry has taken over his father's service station in Kennedy where he has his little blond as chief cook and bottlewasher. Sue Godfrey Look HI What a mansion in Vernon. Whos?? I? Why its the God- freys, Sue and Charles. Since they're making plenty of money they will soon retire. Jerry Lynn Nabors Jerry L. Martha McDaniel Martha and Donald have their own business, Babb's self service in the prosperous city of Palmetto. Troy Porter Troy is now President of the Columbus National Bank. He and Nettie Rhea are making their home there. Clara Jean Stripling As I see Toot she is wearing a large diamond. Who's? None other than Charlie Lawleys. No, wait! She and her tall handsome husband who is still serving in Uncle Sam's Army. They are very happy at Fort Knox. Bobby Porter If you've been wondering about a program of T. V. it's just Bobby. He has taken over since Author Godfrey has retired. Evelyn Johnson Evelyn Johnson Is now helping her husband in their own busi- ness, The Weathers Shoe Factory.” She also runs home to care for Millard Jr. at off times.
