ADMINISTRATION To the seniors: Four years ago, you came to Kennedy as freshmen. I also came to Kennedy as your new Principal. In a short days of this Isnala publication, you will be graduating. I feel this Class of 1988 is by far the most exciting class that I have been associated with. As you look over the past four years, you will see how much you've grown and how much you've matured. I am pleased to have been your Principal. Your life at JFK has been filled with many ups and downs. But now it's time to set your sights on bigger and better things. I know you will continue to strive to be the best that you can be. Set your sights high and look towards the future for all your successes. And I thank you all for being such fine Kennedy High School students. 5147 IABE GONZALES Admmistrative Vice Principal Best wishes to the Class of 1988. Wasn't it 3000 easy to say, but how about actually experiencing it? Well, you're 18 now, and it's time to move on to greater things in life. When asked about how she felt, Senior Charla Stevens replied, I would have mixed feelings, lonely and happy. I would be lonely because I would be away from family, and happy that I'm finally on my own. As another Senior, Stephanie Flippen put it, Kind of scared because I've never lived away from home before; it'll be a new experience for me. The feeling's mutual for the rest of right? It's a bit scary when you let the thought sink in. But hey a we'll all live through it. It isn't the end of the world, it's the beginning of a new you. It's in my locker!! , no dice. That excuse doesn't work with teachers anymore, especially since that term paper was assigned September second,. and here it is January twelfth, the day it's due. Try again , says the teacher With a menacing gleam in his eye, amuse me. How does one tackle this seemingly impossible situation? Senior Staci Walker explains how she would use creative genius and outrageousness to escape. would begin by explaining that I knew it had been assigned four months ago and that I had done it, but . . . Get ready here it comes. Well, you see, first, I lost the questions, but I couldn't answer them anyway because I couldn't find any of the books in the entire Bay Area! I did find the questions but I could't understand the books!! Luckily, two months later, I was ready to write. But see, that was when we had to go to Maui, for Christmas vacation, so I took all of my stuff with me. One day, I was on the beach, and this big wave came and before I knew it, everything was carried off to sea!!! And you better believe that some fish is getting the education of his life!! Go to your locker and get your term paper, Staci, the teacher didn't buy that one either. Sophomore Nicole Patterson has a somewhat similar plan to get out of this one. I started out in November, but didn't actually start my rough draft until December. We had to go to Switzerland for vacation, so I decided to do it there. Well, when we were in our chateau, a blizzard came, broke a window near my desk and blew the papers near the fireplace. I saved them but as I did, I tripped over some skis, broke my left leg, and my right arm as well. I'm right-handed, I couldn't write. I tried to type it, but the keys on my typewriter were all stuck. I finally hired someone to take it down as I recited it from memory, and I did finish it, but I left it at home. Here's a pass, go to your locker Nicole. So is that what it takes to get out of a sticky situation like this? Going to Maui or $w1tzerland and breaking a few bones? But even then, teachers still don't believe :t.0What 5 wrong with them? We began as followers and we're leaving with the experience that put us one step closer to be- coming leaders. We know what to do and how to do it. Many problems occurred and with me being the president it was my responsibility to take care of each and everyone of those problems e No matter how big or how small!!! As long as I have been president, I have witnessed many things involved with the class of 1990. Our class started out with a bad year. This year, we're back on Otir feet ready to start over. The one thing I can say about thlS class is that we work together. The different ideas we have, we compromise to make them work. This is what keeps us oing. I consi er our class to be the most spirited out of the rest of the classes. We seem to care about our school, and will partici ate in any school spirit activity. We show our spirit at ra ies, at games, and we also have extra beat. There are two so homores on the cheerleading squad, and also have sophomores on the Varsity Football Team. As you can see, we get involved. One last word: keep it up, SOPHOMORES, because when we're SENIORS, we're goin to make this school have spin't like it was back in 19 5, 1986 - LIVE! These are just a few of the types of vehicles that students drive to school. Some students are relieved of the many re- sponsibilities of owning a car. Mom's '77 Toyota Corolla is what Senior Robert Hoffman drives to school. When asked what he pays for he an- swered, Anything that has to do with money my mother pays for it. I just drive it. Senior Oliver Champion has his choice of driving an '83 Honda Accord or an '87 900 Turbo Saab. He said, my parents pay for everything, but there are occasions that I pay for the gas myself. Other students pay for a lot more. Senior Alex Gwathney drives a '79 Honda Accord. He says, I pay for everything tgas, insurance and repairsi it's still my mother's car. Senior Keb Nompraseut 0n the other hand drives his own '87 Nissan ZOOSX. I pay for everything myself except for the repairs - my uncle helps me there. Having a car or being able to drive may not be what it's cracked up to be. There are a lot of responsibilities that come with driving, so if you think you're not quite ready to meet them, you might consider sticking with AC Transit for just a while longer. e Juan Gutierrez Rochelle Clark Roshawnda Clark Rodney Clemons Ronnie Cole Troy Cole Willie Conner Felicia Cooks Timon Cooley Constance Cooper Luma Cortez Rana Marie Craig Jaque Crane Alex Daniels Ezra Danridge Bruce Darden Aaron Davis Arvel Davis Tina Davis Mary Dawson George Devers Niasha Dorton Charles Douglas Kirk Dodson Angela Durr Haruka Endo DeAngela Ford Tanisha Gainer Carmel Gaines Gabriel Garcia Jorje Garcia Lamarco Gardner Alonzo Gartell Aisha Gholson Marc Gibson Jamerlon Gill Ty Gilliam Nathaniel Clatzer Erika Godfrey Niesha Gooden Jason Gooselaw Stephanie Granado Kari Grantham Rashida Graves Ella Eng Charles Estill Auterrious Evans Felicia Farr Santa-Angela poses for the camera. THE SOUND OF MUSIC If you like the sight of brass and steel meeting with human breath or flesh pounding on ebony and ivory keys, then the band room is the place to be. You can find so much talent in that one room that it would amaze you. Senior Ramon Gooden, one of the many talented musicians in the jazz band states, I've been playing instruments since I was born. I remember having a drum set that my parents bought me when I was little, and ever since then, I've kept on learning how to play new instruments. I enjoy playing because it's fun and I want to make a lot of money. Three of my most favorite musicians include Prince, James Brown, and George Clinton. Some students may not be able to play as many instruments as Ramon, but they all have the same capability. Senior Trina Gaines states, I play the piano and the base guitar. I've played since I was five years old. I really enjoy being able to play by ear, meaning I can play my favorite song just by listening to it and to me that's fun. e Juan Gutierrez Natasha Gray Sharon Green Dawn Greer Donald Griffin Zoltan Grose Joseph Guillory Kisha Gunter Kenyetta Hammond Noah Han Melvin Hardnett Atara Harris Jackie Harris Nicole Harris Irville Harrison Jason Harvey Margo Hattin Latonia Hayes Albert Hernandez Jorje Hernandez Carlos Higueros Tanisha Hill Karmon Holder Sean Hoskin Roger I-Iukom Sheree Hunter Shantrell Marvice Ireland Jennifer Ikuta Deborah Isabelle SOPHOMORES SOPHOMORES SOPHOMORES SOPHOMORES SOPHOI szzinaW Marcel Jack Maurice Jack Jeremy Jackson Robert Jackson Ronnie Jackson Marlin Jeffreys Twilla Jeffries Billy Johnson Crystal Johnson Havonya Johnson Johnny Johnson Anissa Jones Chantel Jones Deanna Jones Marc Katayanagi Rajinder Kaur Ebony Kelly Senait Kifle Veronica Lara Laquisha Lawton Anarosa Leanos Darrell Lee Andrea Lee Kimberly Lee a 4 ORES SOPHOMORES SOPHOMORES SOPHOMORES Myeisha Lee Steve Lee Thomas Lee Sylvester Leverett Germaine Lewis Julique Lewis Drennon Lindsey Rochelle Logan Sherri Low Kevin Lundy Orlando Lyles Iohn Mahley Long Manivan Thairot Manivanh Theb Manivanh Marlin Martin Yearbook, the Pain!!! Trying to meet deadlines!! Taking pictures, and making sure that they'll fit your layouts!! These are a few of the worries that go with designing a yearbook section. Each part of the book should be filled with creativity and originality, just enough so that you can distinguish it from any other one. To top it off at the end, does everything work!! You busily arrange your layouts and work and work. Finally, you think that you've finished e but something goes astray!! You find that someone from another section has been holding pictures that need to go into your section!! What are you to do now?? Of course, this is natural with any yearbook staff. Frustrations and heartbreaks come with the territory. As a staff member you do your job of redoing the part of the book you're responsible for. And, in the end you see the result and realize that it was all well worth it!!! - Nicole Patterson Mario McCarthy Adriane McCoy Tioni McCoy Lenique McCullough Tamara McFarland Stephan McGee Donna McMillan Carmen McNeil Ligia Megia Aaron Miller Asha Milsap Ariel Minczeski Jeanetta Minix Michelle Montero Andrea Moore Dayatra Moore Sindy Munson Kima Murry Demetrrius Nelson Rolanda Newton Rochawnda Oakley Antonio Oceguera 92 w PW SOPHOMORES SOPHOMORES SOPHOMQRES SO Deborah Martinez Magdalena Martinez JyNelle Matthews Kevina Mays DAYDREAMIN G Daydreaming helps pass the time in class, or through those boring classes. The final mark of 4 wins and 6 losses was in no way an indication of the talent on this team. Led by a small group of seniors, the Eagles came up short to some of the top teams in the state.
