Kennedy Players The Kennedy Players has a long tradition at Kennedy High School. This organization, also known as K.P.'s, is sponsored by Mr. Patrick Butler. Many ofthe plays are written by Mr. Butler, with a great savings on royalties, but occasion- ally a Broadway musical is done. Many dedicated student belong to the K.P.'s. The play requires a two and a half hours, daily reherasal for six weeks before the play and and about four hours for dress rehearsals. The Kennedy Pom-pon majorettes perform at all the football and basket- ball games. To be a majorette you must have all passing grades, come to zero period practice everyday, and go to all the football and basketball games. Those who wish to try out for major- ettes must attend the workshops held in early spring. At the workshops basic baton, a pom-pon routine and a march are taught to be performed at try-outs. Throughout the year the majorettes hold fund raisers such as flower sales, bake sales and car washes during the summer. The money for the fund raisers goes towards a bus for transpor- tation to and from the football games and this past summer they went to Great America. A few majorettes were even involved in the protest downtown against the teachers' strike. The 1987- 88 officers are: Danielle Ferone - cap- tain, Jamie Skrezyna - co-captain, Joy J enicek - secretary-treasurer, Lori Dur- kiewicz - historian. Pictures: 1.
