1 3- fel C.VV.T. The Cooperative Work Training Program is designed to help prepare a student for gainful employment upon leaving their formal education. Students have a period of class and work a half day at a job. The teacher and the employer grade the student. The employer grades the student on the job performance. The course gives the students a chance to begin work while finishing school. The Kennedy work-study coordinators are Carol Dye, Edward Knapp, Andrew Janiak 5 --.-- , ,,,..-A and Michael Pagliaro. They find jobs for students, visit stu- dents and employers and make sure that grades and reports are properly prepared. They also teach the classroom peri- od of preparation for work. Computer Club The computer club, sponsored by Mr. Joseph Locascio, is a successful club. The club was started in November of 1986. The students are able to utilize the computers during study periods. They go mainly during first, sixth, and se- venth periods. The students can work on their projects or homework, Monday through Thursday, on Apple or Tandy computers. There are programs avai- lablethat help them with their homework, for example, word processing P.F.S. for the Apple computers, P.F.S. Write, basic Cobol, and Pascal. There is software that helps sharpen the skills in reading, spelling, vocabulary, English grammar, mathematics and typing. On Friday club members can play educa' tional games like Word Attack, Spell Itl, English Examiner, and the Millionare Game. 1. Jennie Wong works on a word processing project. 2. Home Economics and Related Occupations is a cooperative educa- tion program designed to prepare students for gainful employment in positions related to the vocationally oriented curriculum. The students may be placed in the food service industry, in child care occupations as well as the industrial clothing field or in a related business depending upon which area they have selected for concentration. The important factor, however, is that some train- ing skills have been incorporated during their high school careers. Pictures: 1.
