The first year of the new decade proved to be one of both promise and problems, here are some of the triumphs and tragedies that made it memorable: here was the year of the revolution, in fashion, in morals, in politics . . . campus unrest climaxed by four deaths at Kent State followed by two more at Jackson State . . . accidents or murder? depends upon your point of view . . . and youth marches on . . . Kate Millet writes Sexual Politics and founds Womenis Liberation spotlight moves from boys to girls as burning draft cards are replaced by burning bras . . . everyone's protesting, the construction workers' mobilization of the Hardhats . . .
