The members learn about other countries, listen to guest speakers, and are encouraged to investigate the customs, and lU'e styles of countries other than their own. Aspiring pedagogues ,ind their niche in the FTA. This year the club, in addi- tion to the .field trips to the elementary schools, and various colleges, has added a widespread tutoring pro- gram in the towns elemen- tary schools. The tutors de- vote several hours each week to going into the class- room and giving individual attention to students in need of assistance, which not onhi helps the students and the teachers, but also gives the tutor valuable practical experience. Advisor: Mr. Arasim ORGANIZATI This club offers the stu- dents of J.FK. the opportu- nity to discuss, and explore the social, and political problems besetting today's world. Members bring in outside speakers, and gain insight into the workings of our political system through such activities as their an- nual Youth-in-Government program, and the Model Congress. 1971 NEWSPAPER STAFF This years newspaper underwent a drastic change from pre- vious years. It is now a weekbt distribution containing more pertinent, and recent news. The finished product is the result of long hours of diligent work by dedicated students interested in learning such .journalistic skills as reporting, laying out, and proofreading. They acquire these skills through practical ex- perience, the use of proper news hom, correct organization, and by learning how to function efectively under the pressure of a deadline.
