Students are required to take four years of Physical Education during which time they are exposed to a wide variety of sports and activities. Nicholas Forte Department Chairman Manhattan School of Music M.Ed., B.M. In order to give students of musical ability an opportunity to develop their talents, JFK offered both instrumental and vocal music. The department chairman, Mr. Nicholas Forte, directed the several bands which included the Marching band and the Stage and Jazz bands. Also sponsored by the department were the Mixed Chorus and the Ensemble, the vocal groups. The Marching band was one of the highlights of football games, and the Stage and lazz bands won acclaim throughout the area for their ability.
