This class of 1948 will find its pleasure of achievement dim- med by the severing of school and class friendships. All of you have had dreams but to realize your dreams you must be- lieve in yourself. You must believe you were made to do any tasks with- out calling for aid. You must believe, without growing too scornfully proud, that you are endowed with a mind to do thinking, andtwo hands and two eyes. All these are the equipment God gives to the wise. You’ve got to believe in yourself to succeed. i i oe baa] | WN nf a Mie ee =e = —- = — THE KAT STAFF Patsy Drawis sii a es ts Veriin Senrater 5 a 3s. isessasvsascasts cs Sistem dior Billie Marie Atchison.......................... Henry Bolt wills all of his absentees to James Bolin. Raymond Elrod wills his pitching ability to Hoyt Childres and also his stage management job to Charles Foster. James Gregory wishes to will his place as first base on the base ball team and his “extra’’? memory work to Lemuel Wyatt. Jeanette Durfee wills her old school books to Marjorie Mallow. She also wishes to pass on the good English grades willed to herfrom the ninth grade last year; she says the will was broken. Lillie Jewel Tatum wishes to will her glamour and acting ability to Billie Marie Atchison. Patsy Ruth Brown wishes to will one of her convolutions in her brain to Lela Bell Davis. Melba June Sudduth wants to will all of her A’s to anyone in the ninth grade who needs them, (maybe) Jimmie Simmons. CLASS PROPHECY In the year 1965 the class of 1948 came back to Kennedale for a home- coming to view the new high school building which had been completed. They were all greeted by the Tenth grade home room teacher of 1948--- Mrs. Buddin, who had previously returned from Brazil. The first to arrive was Henry Boldt, alias (Casey at the bat Boldt), who is now mayor of Mans- field. He is followed by James Gregory who is now running an Extension Ice Business since his father has retired. Raymond Elrod appeared with his wife and five children; although he is very busy, he still finds time to ride his son’s bicycle quite a bit. We were all Surprised to see Dorris Swiney, for she is very slim and must take vitamin pills, but she still blows bubble gum. Loreta Elrod is now married to the soldier she wrote to while She was in the Tenth grade; they are living in California. Raymond Brown is still a bachelor and runs after every girl he sees. (He expects to be married a t the age of ninety-seven.) Verlin Schrader is now pastor of the Kennedale Methodist Church. Three old maids, Lillie Jewel Tatum, Patsy Ruth Brown and Melba June Sudduth, are still together through the years; the three arrived for the home-coming by plane from their summer vaca- tion in Florida. Ohl! yes, if we forgot to mention Jeanette Durfee! She is now married to Verlin Schrader and is choir director for the church. Bitbebih Shih ies hii lis ad =a % i od a Miss.
