CLASS PROPHECY In the year 1960 the class of 1947 came back to Kennedale for a reunion. They were greeted by Iris Williams who was running a shop for selling baby garments and by Royce Self, who was pastor of the Baptist Church. From Hollywood arrived Lemoyne Savage looking very stylish in her fur coat and carrying a waterbucket for a handbag. Tommy Bulin, who owned a store for disposing of rabbit hides and tin cans, was chairman of the reception com- ' mittee. George Adams, who was running the Kennedale drug store, treated everyone to anice cream soda while the bunch was razzing Barbara Willhelm and Charlene Turner because they had grown so fat. Charlene had her four little boys with her while Barbara had left hers at home with Grandmother Willhelm. Wyatt Winslett, who sold insurance on commission in the city of Mansfield, was present and demanded that chewing gum be served after the soda, so that they could chew and chew like the class did inthe good old days. Mickie Wyatt piloted a plane from Chicago and landed atthe Municipal Air- port. He accompanied Bennyruth Shelton, one of his passengers, to the re- union. They were surprised to find that Frances Hale had graduated from college and was teaching music in John Tarleton. They were also surprised to find that Jane Luttrell was teaching in the Kennedale School where Mr. Arthur still held the title of superintendent, but was too old and feeble to do much more whipping. The crowd later all decided to go toa watermelon feast out on Ben Middleton’s farm where Bernice Morris insisted that she tell them of her missionary trip into the jungles of Africa. After the feast, chewing gum was again passed around by members of the Ninth Grade class of 1947.
