GLIMP E I TO THE FUTURE Dear Diary, Mfell here it is, the year 1970, ten years since the class of 1960 graduated from Kenmore. As everyone seems to be abandoning the earth for other planets, I have decided to write about the class-for the earth records. I wouldn't have to do this if JOHN KOSTKO hadn't gotten that absurd idea of becoming emperor of the world, with JERRY GUY and KEN GOFFEE supporting him all the way. Naturally this set off a world war and even the head of the Marine Corps DOYT AKOM and his first lieutenant JIM CALLAHAN couldn't stop them. TONY ALEXANDER wanted to chip in and help the Marines, but he and ROGER BAER were too busy working with SHARLEEN HOUT training their new sing- ing group featuring IRENE PAVKOV, PAT SHAW, THELMA SHREVE, ELLEN THOMPSON, and LINDA WATERS to entertain the new Expresso Beatnik CoHee House. A few people seem to be sticking to earth music, however, BARBARA JEAN JONES practices her piano lessons daily, while her assistant EUGENE GANGL diligently turns her music. In the meantime, the war became quite serious and several of the boys were drafted. MIKE CINGEL, ROGER COLE, JAMES DAVENPORT, HAROLD WELLING, and GEORGE WALBECK to name a few. But they cou1dn't win alone so DOT VIROSTKO immediately formed a cheering squad composed of SUSIE DARR, JANICE CROSS, NANCY DROBLYEN and FRANCIE PRICE, but the guys couldn't seem to keep their minds on the battle. Just about that time BOB COCHOY discovered a peace plan which caused the people of the world to select MARGIE RICHARDSON and DICK BUTCHER as the rulers of the world, and there was peace for three ears. Exilerything went smoothly for a while with CHARLES FICKLE plucking chickens in SALLY PEERCY'S chicken plantg JANET BAKER running a reducing salon with MALENE MILLSAP and JUDY DAGUE attending faithfully, and HAROLD BALTER giving skydiving lessons to RUTH HOLMES and GARY MOSS. This was the social season, too. One of the biggest parties was given by SHEILA MCCLEARY, President, and JUDY DENIOUS, Vice President, of the United Nations. The fabulous guest list included: President of the United States-JUNE KORMENDY, Russian Premier-JIM KITCHEN, PAUL GENOVESE-owner of 500 Saudia Arabian oil wells, BARBARA ANN JONES-secretary to PETE MILICH-sole emperor of the Moon fwhich he bought from HAROLD MANN for Sl an acrej, and BILL SNOOKS-present Sultan of Turkey who brought along his harem-MARJORIE LAZOR, PAT SCHLEICHER, DIANE MARR, LINDA FISHER, ELIZABETH KOCH, LODEMA COOPER, and WILMA CONRAD. The biggest event of the season was when GARY BALLINGER and ED STEWART decided to take a trip to Mars. Their crew included ED HUTCHISON, BOB ILER, JERRY KASSINGER, GEORGIANNA MANCUSO, JIM MOON, CAROLYN DELHOMMER, and DAVE ROBERTS. Preacher LARRY HUTCHISON and church organist VIRGINIA BALDENSBERGER prayed for both expeditions which safely reached their destination. These expeditions set off five years of planning the colonization of the planets. PAT OSTERVICH was elected chairman of the move, and with her assistants LINDA ADAMS, JANET CALVERT, and DIANE DERRY sent colonization groups to each planet. This ended the World Wars but was just a beginning of interplanetary trouble, the most famous battle fought between BOB KOGER and KENNY LEGATS over control of Saturn. But like an angel of peace SALLY GUCKEYSON arrived on the scene settling matters by giving ILLONA BELITSKY and KATHRYN DAILEY complete control of the planet. The United Nations gave way to the United Planets and BILLIE BROADHURST was elected president. BECKY ESSIG became treasurer but TOM TOBIN and MIKE SOBITZ were constantly raiding the treasury to make repairs on their racing rockets. BILL WILKINSON and PAMELA WOOD celebrated the First Christmas on Pluto and gave JUDY LAW- SON to CHARLES WILEY for a present. JIM T RANTHEM came down to earth for a Christmas tree but returned with WENDY STANDRIDGE so the group dropped popcorn over PAUL WILAND instead. The Mars settlers had a poor Christmas because JOEL ROSENBAUM wouldn't play Santa Claus, but they had a huge New Year's celebration. MARILYN SMITH dressed as the New Year and PAUL SHELKOF- SKY donned white gown and whiskers as the Old. A few ambitious people including JOE ZURZOLA and CAROL ABICHT weren't content with the present solar systems and headed beyond the Stars for new worlds. JEAN ZEMA and BONNIE PRENTICE are of this group. By 1968 JERRY PARDUE and BERNICE FERRES had founded the fifth solar system and left BAR- BARA ARNOLD and DIANE BAHRY in complete control. NANCY HELM and KENNY GAISER started a solar system all their own with DAVE KIRK and SANDY RAY. Robots invented by KENNY RHODES, GEORGE McMULLEN and MICHAEL WITHERUP, left the rich CARL ADAMSON, DICK FORESTER, and JEROME MATTHEWS with nothing to do but spend their money. FRED NASRALLAH and his secretary PAT NEGRON wrote a book about the ten most famous outer space personalities which included, JUDY PELLE, THOMAS MACK, JOHN WATSON, DONNA SYKES, BETTY SABO, SANDY BLENDENBACHER, LORRETTA CAMPER, and WILLIAM HAUSE, respective leaders of the nine planets of the original solar system and JOHN MILLER supreme ruler.
