Cf fair au- tumn breeze presaqed a happq vouaqe as we headed for Sophomor- ania. 'lrnanu months were to pass before we finished this first leq of our gjourneq., For most of us this was our first venture on such a tedious and decidinq course. 'Jherefore the voqaqe was made smoother and more certain of success bu a fine qroup oi' commodores consistinq of Bob 'Dendtler, Ginnu Bauer. Cil 'Ll7atson,and Kai, Qeard. 'life also acquired foran advisor an old salt bu the name oi? Gdmiral SC-hneider. 'Uhe Pirst uear oil ourjourneq helped to make us more comme nd- able, and schooled us with the lanowledqe and experience needed to pass our first trial. 'flhis first uear was not all worlchowever. Qfn order to maintain a sturdu crew, we realized that diversion and merriment must be included also. fDurinq this period we heqan to feel that we were becominq more practiced in sportsmanship and other admirable characteristics. Qn our Sophomore Show we had our own Gail Gaqlan, pinch hittinq forflallulah Bankhead. and manu other qood acts. Cfs we naviqated onward, fair weather ap- proached, brinqinq with it the 'Blossom Tram. firom our deck, 'llzarqie Kowalski and Bob Bemisderfer were crowned 'princess and 'prince ' ted to second decla, the test on our sea- Before beinq promo worthiness came when we encountered a belliqerent schooner -f Eo9CCY'TT2S! 9't was a veru determined Piqht, but we proved our qallan' tru bu finallq sinlzinq the opposition. clhus, we achieved our first qoal 0? success. OP course our schooner bore eloquent testirnonu to l' t. while manu oi' our idlers had the sharpness of? recent conf ic ' he others lou injured on our declis. 'jhose qone clown with the s ip, who had worked hard durinq the qear, however, received their merit now. after a summers shore leave, we returned to the ship and set our course for Quniorania, that happu land of noon- dau sun.
