They are Zella Christensen, Leila Rehn, Sarah Krenelka, Carol Nelson and lneze Knutson. Leila Rehn won the American Legion Auxilliary Essay Contest in 1943. The title of this essay was umaking America Strong'. Bill Taye lor also won an American Legion Essay Contest in 1943 and again in 1944. The title of his last essay was 'Pioneer Patterns Of Our World Of To-Morrow'. The Class Kings and Queens were as follows: 1941-Deloris Geiger, 1942-Leila Rehn and Kenneth Hansen, 1943-Jeanette Roberg,and John Odland, 1944-Inez Knutson and Adolph Johnson. Marian Gravesen won the Gregg writer Contest for a sixty word per minute test. The Senior Play nmurdered Aliven, was presented in April under the direction of Miss Dorothy Hsambsal. The cast was as follows: Mar- ie Gehring, Herbert Thornberg, Zella Christensen, Carol Nelson, Sarah Krenelka, Bill Taylor, Ronald Geiger, Jeanette Roberg, Donald Kuglin, and Fredrika Cooper. This play was a mystery farce. Members of the F. F. A. ate Francis Scham el, Donald Kuglin, Loyd St. Croix, Marvin Kolbo, Harvey Rodin, and Herbert Thornberg. Francis Schamnel was given the degree of State Farmer, the highest this org- anization oan offer. Jeanette Roberg and Sarah Krenelka were high school cheer leader for two years. Other seniors in Pep Squad are: Zella Dawn Christesen, Lhrie Gehring, Fredrikn Cooper, Sarah Krenelka, Leila Rehn, Dorothy Nelson, Delores Geiger, Marie Gehring, Elsie Christensen, Carol Nel- son, Hnxine Harris, Margaret Byrd and Jean Peterson. If no one else misses us the High School Band will for fifteen graduating seniors are members of the High School Band. These meme bers are Zella Dawn Christensen, Marie Gehring, Fredrika Cooper, Sarah Krenelka, Ronald Geiger, Adolph Johnson, Bill Taylor, Carol Nelson, Kenneth Hansen, John Odland, Dean Anderson, Deloris Geiger, Francis Sohamnel, Marie Weinberger, Marian Gravesen. Some of these students have been in the band for over six years. And so in closing we seniors say nThank youn, Kay H1 we've had a lot of fun between your walls and we'll always have a warm spot in our hearts for youu.

milk a-yNq- 3 mu S- if Q :ex ' 5 Y' Qi f Aggtggg. 1 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As graduating seniors, we the class of '44 look back over our years in Ken are school with a feeling of sadness remembering all the happy times we have had here. These last twelve years when our characters and personalities have been molded. It is only fitting that we look back over our school careers and review some of the im- portant happenings. It all began one bright fall day in 1931 when fourteen of the present senior class started out for school clinging to their motherfs hand. These 14 students who have completed their grade and high sehool'education in this school areg' Dean Anderson, Zella Christensen, Fredrika Cooper, Delores Geiger, Ronald Geiger, 'Marie Gehring, John Odland, Donald'Simnons, Bill Taylor, Donald Kuglin, Mar- ian Gravesen, Sarah Krenelka, Kenneth Hanson, Orlan Gorman and , Elsie Christensen. Our next six years were spent leanning readin, writin, and rithi- metic. During this time we attended music and declamation contests in Minot and put on Operettas. Then came the great thrill of entering Jr. High School and what fun we thought it would be to pass to different classrooms. Many new students joined us in the ninth grade, at the ond of this year we graduated from Junior High School. When Sophomeres many of the boys began participating in 'ports we have a very athletic class, almost all of the boys are lettermen. George Wood, Orlan German, Adolph Johnson, John Odland, Ronald Geiger, Bill Taylor, and Donald Sim ons were members of our Championship bas- ketball team. John Odland, Orlan Gorman and Ronald'Geiger' were' mem- bers of the all-conference team. Elected captain of thc 331,g1,gg team was Orlan Gorman, Ronald Geiger was an all-state guard. HMama's Baby Beyn was the name of our Junior Class Play, a comic. Our Senior Class Play was nMHrdorod Aliven a mystery farce. Both of the plays were directed by Miss Dorothy Hvambsal. The highlight of our Junior Year was the Prem. we chose a night- club theme and decorated the gym accordingly. The banquet was served at the Irvin Hotel. The Kay Hi News also won second place in the state contest. Leila Rehn, Sarah Krenelka, Zella Christensen, Marian Gravoson, Marie Gehring, Carol Nelson, Marie Weinberger, Dorthy Barrett, Dorothy Nelson, Inez Knutson, Kenneth Hanson, John Odland, Bill Taylor and Harvey Rodin were members of the'Chorus. Sarah Krenolka and Kenneth Hansen were featured as soloists, Sarah was also a member of the Kay Hi Trio. . ,Q vi' V M, ,

They chose a mystery farce which kept the audience in suspense never knowing which would come next, a laugh or a good scare.
