in 'SHIT' As I sat by the fire one evening, I fell asleep and dreamed of my classmates ten years from now, First, I drifted to Kenly School and found Gwen working as secretary in the principal's office, and Donald was the agriculture teacher, Then I drifted uptown and found Felton managing the Kenly Youth Center, and Margaret, the secretary, Margaret told me that Betty Ann and her husband lived on the biggest farm in Johnston County, and that Bobby and Luby had put in a used car lot at Hickory Cross, I was interested to find that Shelton and Walter were working at their life's ambition--they own a doughnut shop at Bagley, I found that Sarah Jean and Linda were partners in their own dress shop in Wilson, Nancy M. was their dress designer. Ann C, was busy at the switchboard in the telephone office at Wilson, I went to Raleigh and found Pauline re- laxing on her front porch, She was listening to her favorite record show, It was easy to guess why it was her favorite--Cooper was M, C, of his own program at station WKHS, He was playing a song for the class of '56, thei.r sponsor, and especially for his wife, Mildred, The song was GRADUATION DAY, I looked next door and saw Dora Ellen coming across the yard, She had just got home from her job at Vick's Grocery Store. After a few greetings she told me that Billy was managing the bas- ketball team at State and that Mack was the manager at Carolina, Nancy B, was head nurse at Rex Hospital, and Charles was Dean at a Woman's college in Raleigh, Then in my dream, I went to Washington and New York. In Washington I found Marie working for the F, B, I, When When I reached New York, who should I find but Carol Ann! She fell in love with the city when we visited there as seniors, so when she graduated she took the place of Baby Snooks on a TV show, While I was standing on a street comer a bus came ID a stop beside me. I looked up to see Melvin at the wheel, He told me that C, L, joined the Navy and liked it so well he decided to make a career of it, I drifted on and found myself in California where I visited Doris at Parks Air Force Base. Boy, she liked the Air Force! She told me that Virginia' Ann was a wonderful Airline Hostess for Pan-American Airlines, When I returned to Kenly, I found that Lenora and Ianyce were living quiet lives with their families, I turned on the TV and saw T ruette who now has his own program and ranks with the best M,C,'s in the business. Lenora told me that Herbert Jr, was making his career in the Air Force, While in Kenly I ran across Io Ann, She was working as secretary for the Miller Tobacco Company in Wilson, She told me that Linwood was a very successful business- man in Raleigh, and that he had Wanda and Anne W, working as secretaries for him, I found that my life was full of ex- citement, but I awoke and didn't have time to think of myself. I was too busy thinking of my classmates. Bernice Edwards
