The Columbus iron Works and Trade Center is a big attraction. The city has used this building for private and public hold- ings. john Connally presented his Presidential-election speech at the Trade Center. Ronald Reagan and his wife visited Columbus College. The Swift and Company Plant after 39 years of business closed its doors. However, Motor Inn opened in Cross Plaza. Smugglers Inn Restaur- serves as a good prom-night ant. Apartment complexes on Georgetown Drive have crowded Kendrick students. Columbus rememn bered Carson McCullar's birthday with films at the Bradley Memorial Library. The movies shown were, Member of the Wedding and The Heart ls a Lonely Hunter. These movies were based on McCuller's books. The gasoline crunch has hit Columbusites too. Prices of gas have jumped 156: and more. Skateboarding is one of the people's favorite activity. Slit skirts and disco-roller skating have revealed themselves in Columbus. People closed out the seventies with mixed emotions. This year of 1980 will be breathtaking and challenging. A new spirit of unity and determination will allow the American people to endure this new decade. Current Events 123
