Georgia's population of 5,084,000 are scattered about over 58,876 square miles. Our nickname is The Empire State of the South and our motto is Wisdom, justice and Moderation. The song Georgia on My Mind is the theme song of our beautiful state. Out state flower is the Cherokee rose and our state tree is the Live Oak. The Brown Thrasher and the Largemouth Bass represent the state bird and the state fish. We have two National Forests and seventy state parks and recreation areas, with Atlanta as the capital. Whoever thought our own peanut boy, iimmy Carter, would be our 39th President? His home town Plains has become a frequently visited town.
