G. A. A. The Girls' Athletic Association started the school year with an intensive program. We tirst became acquainted with our new spon- sor, Miss Wade, and then elected otticers. Sports were listed tor each six week period oi the school year. Autumn sports offered were softball, tennis, archery and golf. Winter and spring sports were volley- vall, bowling, basketball, ping pong shuttle- board, and badminton. Modern dance was continued this year, and a stunts and bal- ance group was added to the course. Bonnie Bodenhater, Hannah Haney, and Miss Wade went to the State G.A.A. camp at Delphi, October 5. Our tour projects this year were Soccer Playday, Volleyball Playday, Basketball Clinic and Sweetheart Swirl. The eighth and ninth grade Soccer Playday with Elkhart was held at Guymon Athletic Field, Novem- ber l. This was the first year for soccer in our school. We were pleased with our play- day with Elkhart when each school won a game, ln the Auburn playday Kendallville was represented with eight girls winning Pat Clarke, president Nelda Berkes, vice-president Bonnie Bodenhafer, secretary Lucia Irons, treasurer Hannah Haney, reporter two out ot tour games, Our biggest project was the Basketball Clinic held December 5, Girls and sponsors from sixteen schools journeyed to Kendallville to attend this dis- trict playday. Not only did they learn about basketball, timing and scoring, but also about shutileboard, badminton and ping pong. Now that our school is a member of the state league, some girls have earned their pins and state cards while others worked to meet the requirements for the state award ol a wall plaque by passing written and skill tests. This year Mary Forker, Marjorie Forker, Bonnie Bodenhater, Pat Clarke, Hannah Haney, and Pat Wymer received numerals for earning 150 points each. Those who received letters tor earning 250 points were Bonnie Bodenhater, Marjorie Forker, and Mary Forker. The girls who contributed their time to one particular sport as sportsheads were Marjorie Forker, Mary Forker, Pat Wymer, Hannah Haney, Marcia Ruderman, Bonnie Bodenhater, Ioyce Watson, Nelda Berkes, and Lucia Irons.
