Page Twenly SENIOR CLASS HISTORY When we firsT enfered The high school build- ing, we adopTed The moTTo By Our ETforTs We l-lope To Rise -and so we have risen, as one can see by Taking a look aT The pasT of The class of I946. The mosT exciTing chapTers of our class his- Tory sTarT way back in The fall of l94l when we firsT enTered The eighTh grade. By The Trial and error mefhod we soon were able To find our way around and geT To classes noT more Than five minuTes laTe. Under The guidance of Mr. Penrod, we held an elecfion in which Kyle Miller was chosen as presidenT: David Balcer, vice president and Beverly Gillen, secrefary-Treasurer. Our class flower was To be The carnaTion, and our class colors, blue and silver. The class displayed iTs musical TalenT when an orchesTra made up en- Tirely of eighfh grade sTudenTs performed in an audiTorium program. One big occasion of The year was a slcafing parTy aT Rome Cify. Every- one had loTs of fun and no casualTies were reporTed. We Then rose To The freshman class and, wiTh new sTudenTs enTering from The LuTheran, Wayne, Soufh Milford, and Jefferson schools, our number was raised from 77 To IIO. Miss Power was To lead us Through our green year and in our annual elecTion we chose Fred Brum- baugh, presidenTg Richard DeCamp, vice pres- idenT: and Barbara Bonar, secrefary-Treasurer. Our class colors were changed To green and whiTe and our flower To The red rose. A hayride and dance furnished our enTerTainmenT for ThaT year. Our efforfs Then carried lO5 of us on To our sophomore year. ElecTion refurns revealed ThaT Bernard Kleiman was To be our presidenfi Rich- ard DeCamp, vice presidenT: Barbara l-losler, secreTary: and Peggy Lieb, Treasurer. Our class colors were changed To red and gray, buf our moTTo and flower remained The same. l-lighlighf of The year was The arrival of our sophomore sweaTers, which were gray wiTh a red '46 on Them. A miscellaneous parTy wound up The evenfs of The year. There were only 83 members of our class puTTing forTh The eTforT To rise when we enfered our iunior year. This proved To be one of our mosT exciTinq years. We goT off To a rousing sTarT by holding a poliTical convenTion in which Barbara Appleman was chosen presidenf. Her supporfing sfaff was To consisT of Jaclc Reed, vice presidenf: Beverly Heign, secrefary: and David Balmer, Treasurer. ThaT was also The year we showed The school whaT good salesmen we were by going way over our goal in selling mag- azine subscripfions, and we also proved our good TasTe when we selecfed our class rings. And, we'll never forgeT how much fun we had producing our play, And Came The Spring, and whaT a greaT success iT was. And do you remember ThaT big noise one nighT in OcTober? ThaT was The class of '46 on iTs hobo hayride. The climax of ThaT evenfful year came when we enTerTained The seniors aT The Club WinTer Rendezvous. Many Thanlcs To Miss Emeinger, our sponsor, who helped us To malce iT one of The nicesf banqueTs ever given. And now we rose To The year for which we all had been worlcing and waifing. For The lasT Time we held an elecTion-David Balmer, presi- denTq Norma Jean France, vice presidenT: Ther- esia lhrie, secrefary: and William Wambsganss, Treasurer. We all wish To exfend our Thanlcs To our sponsor, Miss Sfephens, who was a friend and adviser To all of us, This year The class dis- played iTs acTing abilify by presenTing Laun- celoT and Elaine. IT also should be remembered ThaT The senior class was well represenTed on The baslcefball Team. We were preTTy proud of our class sweaTers, which were navy blue wiTh a maTching K ouflined wiTh whiTe and bearing a whiTe 46. PaT Redmond was selecTed as ediTor- in-chief of The annual and Richard Sfonebralcer as business manager. BoTh sTudenTs and Teachers will agree ThaT The senior class parTy on February 6 was one of The besT in our high school career. Also long To remain in our memories was The lasT big social even oT our final year-The senior picnic. Every- one had a very enjoyable Time. We realized ThaT our school days were nearly Through when we ordered our name cards and announcemenfs. By spring, 76 seniors will have compleTed The necessary requiremenfs for gradu- aTion and will be ready To go as They choose. ThaT is The hisTory of The class of I946 and iT proves ThaT by our efforfs we have risen, and, we mighT add, ThaT by our efforfs we hope To conTinue To rise.
