The Future Nurses Club of America started off the year with sixteen members. Every Thursday a group of three girls go to the Albion hospital as Candy stripers. In this program we help the nurses and nurses aides care for the patients. This is all voluntary work and it is very rewarding. We held a bake food sale to raise money for such funds as cancer research. Most of the year's activities centered around service to others either in the school program or in local hospitals. Kendall has an AFS Chapter and this year Kendall hosted its first Exchange Student ever: Deborah Barnes of Darwin, Australia. AFS stands for American Field Service and it is an organization devoted to International cooperation and peace. The AFS began its first year with a car wash on a brisk September morning. The Harlem Diplomats benefit bas- ketball game was a highlight of the year that was enjoyed by many. The AFS sponsored the annual talent show in March to help them toward their goal of sending and receiving an exchange student next year. We have enjoyed Debbie Barnes so much this year, and wish her all the luck for anything she wants. A special thanks goes to Mr. and Mrs. Rohland, the host family.
