MUSIC DEPARTMENT Students interested in music have been busily engaged in the usual band and choral activities which include both group and individual instruction. High school instrumental and vocal instruction was under the supervision of Mrs. Ferne Forman. while the musical needs of the grades were directed by Mrs. Ptuth Anderson. Pall activities began with Kendall's attendance at the Music Scctionals at VVaterloo. Betty Mills and Sylvia Baker represented K. C. S. In March the music department sponsored a Saint Patriclis Day program which consisted of a dance, featuring Ellen Hazen and Ellen Russell, and vocal and instrumental selections. Shirley Brown, Mary Steffen, Maxine Hall, Betty Mills, Ellen Hazen, Penny Craupman, Sheryl Preston, and Ruth Swanger participated in the County Chorus which sang at the Teachers' Conference at Albion on May 9. :X swing band has been formed by Harold Bolton, Chuck Bolton, Marvin Shultz, jack Harvey. Paul Behnke, Cene VVhipple, and VVard Xveed. The music activities of the school terminated with the annual Spring Concert. Band selections included favorite marches and novelty numbers. These were fol- lowed by a twirling class demonstration and selections by the swing band. The junior High Chorus, the High School Girls' Chorus, and the High School Mixed Chorus also participated in this event. Awards were given to members with three years' credit by the President of the Music Council, Betty Mills. Other officers of the Music Council are Vice President, Nancy Johnston, Treasurer, Shirley Brown, Secretary, Edith Nichols, and Reporters, Sheryl Preston and Kathleen Nowacli. BAND First Row: M.
