In those days of the past, we started a dream, By childish rules we must abide, But tonight we come to end that dream, And lay childish things aside. We'l1 lock these things in our memory chest, As a guiding star so bright, In a chest that will hold our happiest days, Which we close before you tonight. For surely we are on our way On the path that leads through life. And with your help I know we'll reach our goal, Without failure or sorrow or strife. Because you've helped us in the past, As true and faithful friends, So you'1l stay within our hearts, We'1l remember you 'till the end. For now we need you as never before To lend a helping handg And may you guide us through the many problems, That we'll fail to understand. To our Faculty we give our many thanks, But there's regret within us too, For the things we've done so many times, To make life hard for you. But if we could only start over again, We think how perfect we would be, And tonight we could say with heads held high, There's no regret in me. But as we never know what the future holds, Nor can we live over the days of yore, We can only feel ashamed right now, For the things we've done before, To our Parents we extend a welcome, To this life so new and bright, For just as you've always been first with us, You're first in our hearts tonight. And to our loving classmate, Whom we gave up to fight, God heard our prayers and answered them He brought him back tonight. Although we hated it so very much This lad we had to give, To make our own America A better place in which to live. And so, with one last try, we'll say farewell, With this familiar line, Which will mark the beginning of this life ahead, And will end this parting rhyme. The saddest words of tongue or pen 'Tis said are these, it might have been , But the most important seems to me, , Is not what has been, but what is to be. Elsie Dalton CLASS S0 G i Through thefhallowed halls of our dear school, Shall ever ring the past, With its memories of the things we love so dear, Of our life of work and pleasure and the hard- ships we've endured Are the things that we'll remember through the years. Are the things that we'll remember when life seems sure to end And the old familiar places disappear, We will sing of happy childhood and reminisce once more. For we'll never let these memories fade away. We're the class of '51 who is parting we'll miss you too. now and As we come to say adieu, sadness fills our hearts So long, friends. Teachers and classmates, we love you, so long we'll be seeing you. Time has come to say farewell, So long now. Words by Emma Ruth Forbes 60 ,J Q Mjl kgon cmss X was faglfq, , K! .1151 '-'fl Aff!!
