THE GROUP BEHIND THE WHEEL lil ii lllliillllliillillti fl-rj lois mc cloud, colin morse, cheryl mundell, cliff massie, peggy nielson, ray gilkey, guy stringham, jo marrs, tom huhndorf, jill hines, stan hunsdon, vince lee, bill schrier, john stengl the steering committee is among the many new concepts of kenai central high school. with the change in administra- tion, there has been a change in the ideas of where the power should lie. a tremendous amount of power rests in the hands of the eight faculty members and the eight students elected to compose the steering committee. mr. morse has the final power-the veto. the steering committee operates under two principles, the survey-a form of stopping debate and discovering group sentiments, and the consensus-a vote in which the opposition is heard first. decision making is difficult, as many pressures face each member. the steering committee has made a variety of decisions concerning activity periods, class schedules, senior rights and abused privileges, and many more. steering committee is an essential link in communications between administration, student, and faculty members. 20
