PI1Si'OI'H of lhe bluss of 1950 On August 28 1931 seventeen green Freshmen started to school at Kempton Hlgh f1V9 glrls and twelve boys Durlng the course of the year we lost one g1rl but another boy yolned so we dldn t decrease ln SIZQ The flrst hlgh pomt of the year was 1n1t1at1on We surely looked funny ' W e were 1n1t1ated durlng the day and also at a nlght SESSION We got 4 55 of all the money made by all four classes so there were many money makmg projects 1n whlch we partlclpated Among them were the magazlne drlve the carnlv xl and the scrap drlve Speech contests one act play s a sclence trlp muslc contests and the basketball games all had partlclpants from our Freshman class 1n them When school ended May 22 19 12 we all agreed that hlgh school was wonderful and that we would be back next year What was the maln thlng We had on our mlnds our Sophomore year? In1t1at1ng the Freshmen of course' We had plenty of trlcks ln store for them on thelr 1n1t1at1on day September 29 For one day We were klngs and queens The Freshmen gave us a return party November 7 by taklng us to see Ivanhoe ln Kankakee We helped wlth the annual cftrmval Whlch not only kept us busy for th1s one day but for several days It was hard Work but lots of fun so September 1 1953 Hoo ray l' Junlors at last' Thls year only three glrls vsere IH our class Wlth thlrteen boys that made a total num ber of slxteen Jumors Our class r1ngs Whlch We had orde1 ed our Sophomore year arr1ved early tms year 1-or uaym we showed tr-em to ve y e Octobel 21 marked the beglnnlng of the magazlne drlve lVe were compet1ng agalnst the Semor class to see YVll1Cl1 of us could sell the most magamnes Natulally we sold more than they d1d and won the free steak dlnners Soon after that we started workmg on our class play Bolts and Nuts whlch we gave November 18 ln Kempton and November 19 1n Cabery It was more fun than work to put on Thls years carnlval was a Wlnter one for whlch we had two booths a telegram booth and a sponge throwlng booth On February 1 we sponsored a donkey basketball game 1n whlch the boys of ou1 class played the faculty and buslnessmen Next year well be Semors' We all hope to be one of the fmest classes ever graduated from Kempton Communlty Hlgh School' v Y Y Q i - - , 1 :V 1 - V !
