HOME ECONOMICS CLUB The symbol used for our association is the design of a small oil burning lamp of the type often called the Betty Lamp, It is usually rath- er crude in construction. In the early days in this country those little portable Betty lamps were used by housewives wherever a bit of light was needed for their house work. The oil is held in the base, which consists of a flat-bottomed dish or bowl usually with a flat adjustable coverg the wick floats in the oil, with its business end protruding through a hole in the cover. There is an upright handle which may be shaped both for carrying the lamp and hooking it on the edge of a shelf or a nail. Our Home Economics Club is one of the many affiliated with the State group. Through our associations we are able to attend the annual meetings held for the benefit of the teachers and club members, In the fall of tais year, Elaine Dowse represented our Club at Spring- field. 'At the first meeting of our club this year, we elected the following officers. President . . Q 0 .Shirley Korlaske Vice President , Patricia Cloonen Secretary . Q 0 A 0 0 Q Rita Zeller Treasurer o o n 0 0 o oHOl6H Frantz The meetings have consisted of short pro- grams, health talks, initiations, and education- al talks. The club entertained their Mothers at a lovely banquet on March the eighteenth. The decorations were in keeping with StL Patrick's Day which occurred the previous day. The Home Economics Club has twenty five members, all four years represented.
