At Kemper an earnest effort is made to attract the right kind of cadets. But in order to be successful iII this the right kind of teachers must be provided to instruct the cadets, to guide them, and to live with them. The personnel at Kem- per is selected with the utmost care. A significant feature of the Kemper system is the independence of tlIe teaching staff. Since the school is not dependent either upon endowment gifts or public appropriations, instructors are free to teach the truth about present practices and trends as Well as those of history. The individual cadet has the right to expect that when he needs additional help it will be given skill- fully and sympathetically. Instructors are chosen with this in mind. Counsel and Guidance The School recognizes the importance of an all- round guidance program, educational, vocational, and character. Valuable assistance is given every cadet in becoming properly oriented at Kemper, pointing out the great intellectual opportunities. Avocation, hobby, pastime, training for the Wise use of leisure, call it what you will, orientation at Kemper involves an all-round guidance program covering testing, supervision, and advising, which brings a cadet to an intelligent understanding of the duties and responsibilities of citizenship. Every member of the Kemper staff is enlisted in this program which guarantees to provide a rich field of experience through which a cadet may effi- ciently educate himself. This field consists of various opportunities-studies first, of course, ath- letics, military, social life, general activities, and contacts with successful men. The proper blending of these makes for better men, sending into the world at the end of a period of years a graduating class of young men fit for responsible duties in many of the important fields of endeavor, of which Kemper may ever be proud. Understanding the individual cadet is the important problem.
