ENGINEERING DEPAR TMENT During the eight month deployment to WESTPAC, the Engineering Department has successfully fulfilled the monumentous task of keeping the Grand Old K.C. in running Condition. With a shortage of men and a rapid turnover in the department, many young petty officers soon found they had full responsibility for their divisions. It was the ability of all hands to rapidly assume large responsibilities of engineering watches and rapidly absorb vast amounts of technical information that enabled this department to handle the preventative maintenance and major engineering casualties that occurred. Efficiency and profession- alism were the earmark of their work. A well done to the hardest working department on the ship.
