Throughout the season the squad played 16 conference games, winning eight and losing eight. In their first game at the district tournament, the locals rnet the Green River Wolves and dropped a thriller, 40-38. Undaunted by their defeat of the day before, the Rangers met and romped the Superior Dragons, 42-34. In the semi-finals for the Con- solation Championship, the Rangers met and dumped the Reliance Pirates, 33-32. Playing the Evanston Red Devils for third and fourth, the Rangers suffered a defeat, 55-46 but retained their last year's fourth place honor. The squad then journeyed to Laramie for the state tournament. where they met the ever-powerful Cheyenne Indians in their first tilt. The game was a thriller with the Indians ending up on the top of a 60-49 score. In their next combat of the hardwood the locals met and stamped out the Lander five, 56-41. ln their third and last game of the tournament, the Rangers met and were defeated by the Laramie Plainsmen, 40-31 thus drawing the tenth place standing of the tournament. At the district tournament, Chubby Legarra was honored by making the All- Tournament team. Then on their trip east to the state tournament, he was named to the All-State honor team by the coaches and officials at the tournament. Chubby was one of the very few of Wyoming prep students to make All-State in two major sports in one year.
