The organization is divided into two groupse-the A group, which consists of all the active members and the B group. which is made up of all the semi-active mem- bers. Under the capable leadership of Miss Cox, the Quirt club was fully organized for all games and the group made a striking appearance at all home football and basket- ball games. The Quirt club members also made several trips to surrounding towns to cheer the Rangers in their encounters against opposing teams. Six cheerleaders were chosen by a committee of teachers and students and in their white. snappy outfits, led the organization during all the games and made a fine appearance when presenting new yells and doing different stunts. The cheerleaders were: Jerry Willoughby, Georgia Goldberg, Peggy Alleman, Gloria Lumbert, Marianne Anelli and Josephine Munari. The uniform for members was a black skirt, white blouse and a red coat sweater. All the senior members of the Quirt club were presented with a letter K with the Ranger emblem on it to wear on their sweaters. The officers of the organization for the 1947-48 season were: President, Chiyoko Tanaka: vice president, Beverly Gregoryg secretary, LaRae Bigler and treasurer, Jean Smith. LARIAT CLUB With Miss Gerry Cox as their sponsor, the junior high school girls organized a pep club to cheer their Cowboys through all of their home athletic games. All of the girls in the junior high are eligible for membership and at this time, the club consists of almost every girl in the junior high school. The members are known as the Pepiteers. Dressed in their uniforms of green and white, the organization made a notice- able appearance at all of the games. The organization was led by nine cheerleaders-- three from each grade--who always presented a fine attraction at all the games by do- ing many acrobatic stunts in their cheerleading The Lariat club has proven to be one of the most peppy units in the Kemmerer schools They hase always backed the Quirt club and made it possible for a larger and stronger cheering section HIGH SCHOOL CHORUS Owing to class schedule difficulties the high school girls chorus did not have a sufficient number of members for the usual actn ities performed by this group how ever with the assistance of fiye boys two amusing operettas were given Lady Fran ces and Mountain Music Both were highly successful and afforded the chorus mem bers much pleasure For the district music festival the group sang Calm Be Thy Sleep and Celtic Lullaby assisted by a few girls from the junior high chorus A rat ing of Excellent LDIYISIOH lll was receix ed at the Kemmerer festival which consider ing there were only two rehearsals a week was indeed remarkable Patings awarded KHS xocalists were as follows Soprano Solo-Carol Dawn Anderson Excellent Excellent Soprano Solo Georgia May Goldberg Excellent Excellent Vlezzo Solo-Donna Whiston Excellent Mezzo Solo-Charmaine Fagnant Superior Excellent Alto Solo Betty May Kirkwood Superior Alto Solo Betty Glagouch Superior Excellent Alto Solo Lois Harris Super1or Superior Tenor Solo Robert Bcutler Excellent Baritone Solo Dick Thornock Superior Excellent Girls Trio-Onyx Smith Delores Bertagnolli Jeanne Beutler Excellent Girls Trio Donna Whiston Charmaine Fagnant Betty May Kirk wood Superior Excellent Girls Trio-Carol Dawn Anderson Georgia May Goldberg Lois Harris Excellent Superior Girls Sextette-Carol Dawn Anderson Onyx Smith Georgia May Goldberg Yanetta Beachler Betty Glagovich Lois Harris Superior Excellent Mixed Octette Onyx Smith Georgie May Goldberg Betty Glago wich Lois Harris Robert Beutler, Al Gilchrist Tommy Potter Don Hansen Superior Excellent lThc aboye ratings are for Kemmerer and Casper festiyals in that order? ,,,,.-Z 4 C-4 , j N If i I 4 l x . .lf!.fY5.:f 1:.1.. ,ru I I I I if If' X .III I r' I I .A If 1 n .
