Dupree as principal. it openecl in 1856 with an enrollment of 1111 boys ancl girls. .Xs Chicago grew larger, more schools were built. .Xt present 89.3117 young people are enrolled in the public high schools ol' Chicago ancl are given the opportunity ol' a free high school eclucation. lielyyn Park was built in 1918 as an elementary school. a branch ol' the Nixon. During the years between 1921 ancl 1925 it was also a branch ol' Scllllfl. serying only islet-511111011 stuclents. 'llhen in 1925 it beczune a junior high as well as a grammar school. .-Xu zulclition was ztclclecl in 19311 making gym- l1llSlll1llS.SlVlllllI1lllg11001.lllltl more classrooms ayail- able. lfinally in the lall ol' 1933 Kelyyn Park Senior High School openecl. :mtl in the spring ol' 1936 the grannnztr school was cliscontinuecl.
