The annual Freshie Dance, held September ' 9, started off Kelvin’s social ' season. The Freshies had already ' ' undergone their initiation during the ' ’afternoon and so the dance held after ' the Kelvin - St. John’s football game, was 1 1 fairly peaceful. Kelvinites chose as their I Freshie Queen for 1960-61, Marg. Wil-J L liams X-21, and as her Princess, Leslie Manos X-36. Both girls were presented with corsages and Marg. in addition v to her crown, was given a longplay recording. Also, congratula¬ tions are due to the seven , Social Activities ‘if The halls were packed .other beautiful no- nnees. FRESHIE HANEE The Yearbook staff r held its dance, the Coro¬ nation Ball, on March 3. The? students enjoyed themselves in the? gym, decorated for the occasion with purple and white streamers, taking time ' ho vote for their favorite candidates in ' f the race for King and Queen of Kelvin It seemed that everybody’s favourites were Judy Taylor XI I-18 and A1 Mac- Lean XII-23. Kelvin’s newly-crowned monarchs were given five dollar gift certificates, school rings, and a cor¬ sage and boutonniere. The Jdng also received Jongplay record with tattered Kelvinites, looking somewhat worse for wear, on the evening of our Hobo Hop. The annual Et Cetera Dance’ was a tremendous success with its fas¬ cinating decoration (torn paper) and stimulating music (Peter Gunn). The Del Rio’s supplied the entertainment and two students were chosen as the worst dress¬ ed Hobos. The Hobo Hop was pos¬ sibly the liveliest dance of the season .and everyone had a ball, even more so to the basketball players who had just de¬ feated the Churchill team. you ve come here to see the football team make fools of themselves — you’ve come to the right place,’” said Arnie Pollock, master of cere¬ monies of our Football Fling. The stu- ' dents were entertained by the football ' team which was well camouflaged against ] the wall that was also plastered. Indivi-j dual trophies were presented to the team t by Mr. Hemick and coach Bill Bolon- chuk. After the entertainment the, dance continued in the gym. All those present had a tremeny dous time, especially the girls who stole the, mobiles. FDDTBALL FEIHfG HOBO HOP YEARBOOK DA1V1EE “Girls! now while men are available” was the well-obeyed command of the social committee. For a change it was the boy who waited anxiously by the phone humming strains of “I’m Available”. As a result of giving the girls the initiative the Coed Dance was Kelvin’s most attended dance of the year. Many thanks are due to Clark Stevens and his fine Social Committee for their, endeavor to give Kelvinites a differ¬ ent type of social affair. The dance was highlighted by the appear¬ ance of authentic Trini¬ dadian limbo danc This year the Grade’ ' Twelves held their own Grad Farewell on April 13 at ' the Rancho Don Carlos. As a re¬ sult of the planning of our capable ' Grade XII Committee the dinner dance ' was a great success. The Grade Twelves and their dates literally “dug” into a de-1 licious chicken dinner. Later a combo furnished the dancing music, whereas the i entertainment was supplied by “They Swingtones”, and sometimes by Mr. Kerr. The presence of many of our witty teachers added to the y gay spirits of this very, enjoyable dinner-, dance. GRAB FAREWELL
