The sweet sixteen period in every boy and girl's life is a decisive period and a trying one, but the kindly understanding and wise counsel of our leader and friend have helped to make our high school life full and profitable. Her ideals spur students to greater scholastic achievement. Her standards of conduct are set high,-and create for us a school atmosphere happy and stimulating. She has fostered in us as students a keen interest in our community problems and leaders by encouraging community organizations to meet at Kelly. Her graciousness has increased the already fine neighborly spirit. We appreciate your help, your understanding, your sympathy and humbly but sincerely, we salute you, . . . Mrs. Allen. K, M 'K Qjv-N34-I Ax., M Ylnclercfadrinfzen . . . Iuniors, sophomores, and freshmen are all a very welcome part of Kelly. In them, seniors recall their first years as Kellyans. As freshmen, bewildered, apparently friendless, they treasure smiles from almighty seniors. Sophomores become very friendly, juniors almost sophisticated. But when the last year comes almost to an end, the seniors forget their power and help and befriend the little ones with almost a parentflike affection. To these aspiring underclassmen, we have only this to say: Be as proud of Kelly as we have been. Keep its record unblemished, and cherish the fond memories of four very happy years spent in high school. Page 56 I 5 ...: . .: - 4 KAZWQ . 39 '- W '21 'QSYW mg, paw Q B4 P21 QE zggwyf. There is never a dull moment from the time the first ball is pitched until the Trojans leave the diamond victoriously. Whether you're swinging at the plate, beating out a hot grounder to third, or eating dust at second, you will find that it is all part of the game. Our gymnastic team was not quite large enough to put three boys into the championship division in the annual city gymnastic meet: however, we were able to capture fourth place in the contest. At the present time Coach Hermann is encouraging freshmen on the team to practice in order that the team may develop into gymnasts who will give stiff competition within the next two years. While the present team has not captured any laurels in city swim meets this year, Coach Strocchia is conscientiously developing swimmers among the IB and IA boys. Since their institution, intramural sports have helped greatly to teach the boys how to play the games without giving up any extra time after school. Approximately seventy-five per cent of our boys participated in these sports. A Page 119 iwanianfi gefe .fdfkifefi A highlight of the fall sports season was the Soccer-Football Dinner tended team members by the Archer Road Kiwanians. Like- wise, the Basketball and Baseball boys are given the same recognition by the Kiwanians during the spring of the year. Roast beef plus all the trimmings . . . oh, me! oh, my! Guests of honor included Dale Samuels, star quarterback of the Lindblom City Champs' team, and Coach Von Bremmer whose stirring address on Sportsmanship was well re- ceived. Zip and zest were added to the occasion through the community song fest led by Mr. McKeag and through the rousing cheers and yells of the Cheerleaders. Coaches Fralick and Strocchia voiced their praises for the fine cooperation between these representative businsss and pro- fessional men and our teams.
