ef 1 -fi Sirk .iibgk Moo! .7 adddaclv I ik After four years of strenuous labor, we have advanced a few paces closer to the Gate of Wisdom. It is the end, and yet, it is the beginning, for it will take a good number of years to climb gradually the rugged path of knowledge, which will enable us to find our niche in the world. We never realized nor understood the full meaning of success in life until We seriously began work at Kelly. Here, our thoughts, our actions, our responsibilities were greatly influenced by the environment. Here, we became conscious of the fact that the youth of a nation is at once its present power and its future hope, and that the ideals of the student today are the activities of humanity tomorrow. Today we have reached the pinnacle of our high school education. It now becomes our privilege to look back over the ground we have trod, review- ing in our minds every strife, every effort, every victory that has brought us one step nearer to the attainment of our goal. Memories of our first year as Freshmen show us how little we knew about tackling the problems before us. But . . . the school handed us new subjects, new formulas of life, new rules for success, and soon we found ourselves cr part of Kelly, enthusiastically awaiting the day when we would no longer be the lowly Freshmen. Sophomore and Iunior years broadened our scope of learning and activity. We became more confident, more determined, more intelligent. New interests found their way into our daily routines. New accomplishments and ambi- tions stimulated us to higher achievements. We began to sense our position in the school and the responsibility and prestige that would be ours as Seniors. The last year laid before us some sound principles. It rounded out our training and showed us that the best side-partner in life is an education, a tool that will chisel a place in the world for those with initiative and ambition. Our Senior year taught us how to think straight and how to make many decisions of our own, how to accumulate useful knowledge, and how to apply it to advantage. Finally, it worked hard to make us people of character with broadness of vision and loftiness of purpose, ready to face and resist all the trials of life, after we leave our Alma Mater to tread the road . . . alone. Where will this road lead us? To SUCCESS or FAILURE! It can only be SUCCESS, if we live up to the ideals of Kelly High School. MARION A. HILBURGER Page 11
