Text from Pages 1 - 48 of the 1954 volume:

of the Senior Class of Kelly High Kelly, Kansas 1954 Volume V1l To Fie Saas of Kelly High School, who for the past 24 years have gone forth into the waiting world inspired by the example and helped by the prayers of Ven- erable Bede, the great English teacher and stud- ent, we, the seniors of 1954 gratefully dedicate our SILVER JUBILEE EDITION of the KELLY HI-LITES. Acknowledgments TO MR. WILLIAM HEGARTY: Coach, Beloved Teacher and Companion, who began his teaching career at Kelly, with our entrance as Freshmen and has continued with us during our Senior year. TO THE BENEDICTINE SISTERS: Who have taught us, watched over us and prayed for us since the first day of school until our day of gradu- ation and who, will, please God continue to follow their good works. TO OUR PASTORS: Father Egbert Hall and Father Basil Finken, who have encouraged and advised us both spiritually and educationally. TO OUR PARENTS: Whose foresight and self-sacrifice have made Kelly High School a reality. One of the problems of the day is that of juvenile delinquency. The basic cause for the existence of this problem is the lack of the knowledge of God among young people. You have been fortunate in having been given a knowledge of your Creator and of your relationship to Him. You have been given the kind of education that has taught you and trained you to be and to do what you must be and do in order to attain the goal for which you were created, the eternal happiness of heaven. What will you become? What will you do? It is up to you. Before man is life and death, good and evil; that which he shall choose will be given him.” (Ecclus. 15:18) Left to right: Theodore Gellhaus, Treasurer; Charles Vondemkamp, Clerk; Albert Korte, Director.
