Witnesses: Clem Kadiddlehopper 1. M. Kilroy Signed by the Senior Class of 1947 CLASS PROPHESY In the dark one night I lay upon my bed. I heard the policemanls feet beat on the pave- ment. I heard the wheels of carriages roll home from houses of entertainment, I heard a woman laugh below my window - and then I fell asleep. And in the dark I dreamt a dream that's vet to come. g As the mist clears away. the gray sky brightens, and we see the tall bewitching buildings of Xew York looming up - closer and closer. The largest building which covers a block on Fifth Avenue shines its lights to all children in need of protection. You have probably guessed the name of this great building. It is Bedlam, one of the greatest day nurseries the world over. Peering through the window I can see one of the supervisors helping the little redhead with his bruised finger. Yes, the supervisor is Bernice Cross! And who is entering the room? It is Elaine Sytsma and Coby Hardenbol, the other supervisors. With them is the father of the little boy. and he introduces himself as Roger Bartz. They pause and then to- gether they walk from the room. all the while reviewing the years that have passed since graduation exercises of 1947. Roger turns quickly to Bernice and asks, HHave you heard of the fWing Follies of I9657? I heard that the total direction was by Don Fryling. Rosalie Castle, better known as Bubbles Bose. plays the leading bubble and has as her assistants Lila Vandenberg and Mary Jane Geelhoed. And guess who ushered me to my seat? None other than June Greinke. She told me that Pete Eckert had just arrived in town with his French bride in his new helicopter which he uses in his forestry work. t'After the play we went back stage to see the leading Bubble, and who should we find but Vivian Yerrick. No, she wasn't a bubble, she was the curtain puller. As we left the auditorium, we felt small pangs of hunger and decided to go to Cronkright's 'Hole in the Sky, for dinner. As we entered, the all-male orchestra directed by Eva Thurber was playing. And who is assuming the role of bouncer? None other than Don Shippy. He told me that if I should like to see Pat Newkirk, she would be sketching portraits of such celebrities as Barbara Vander Meer, Phyllis Kossen, and Adele Hussey on the terrace the following evening. MUpon arriving at the hotel, the bellhop, Jim Brozovich, informed us that our dog, Fido, had swallowed a silver dollar which had been given to Jim as a tip. We rushed Fido to Laurie Sheltemais vetinary hospital. Upon Laurie's orders, Gwenda Bartlett and Doris Hansen per- formed the operation. They are both registered dog doctors. H0h, yes, I met Tressa Visser and Joyce Dieterman. They were on their vacation. They ex- plained that times had been a trifle hard, and they were still working their way through college. 44Well, I must get home to my wifef' ttBy the way, whom did you marry?'7 Bernice asks. 'Shirley Mae Zue. Didnit you knowfw I awoke screaming. After a minute I realized that a dream is a dream, and the future plans itself. CLASS OF '48 The big event in the Junior's year was the Junior-Senior Prom, which the ,luniors gave with the Seniors as their guests. It was held May 10th in the Morton Ballroom, and everyone in the class worked hard to make it a success. Another big project was the Talent Parade which was the Second Annual event of its kind. The Juniors also started the School Store which is something new at Kelloggsville. It is located under the east stairs in the new building and does a thriving business in school sup- plies and candy bars. OFFICERS President . . ..... .
