CLASS OF 1945 The Seniors have been busy, both as a group and as individuals, this year. We have contributed three members to the Band, one to the Chorus, two to 4-H, five to F.F.A., two to Basketball, and three to Football. We have many things to remember about the past year. In September there was a hot-dog roast in Barnes' Pines. Surprise birthday parties were held for George Fitch and Walter Ulmer in the fall. Our play, Aunt Emma Sees lt Through, was one of the main highlights of the year. Any time that we could find a vacant evening, we presented a dance, and the proceeds from these affairs took us to New York at Easter time. Our last year of high-school has been a happy one and one which we will remember always. 12 Standing, Mister Iones, William Ward, Iohn Barlow, Louis Doring, Earl Warren. One evening last Fall We traveled to Oneonta and attended the theatre, after which we had refresh- ments. On another occasion We feasted on hot-dogs on Iackson Hill, While a third event took place at the Community House, under the sponsorship of Mister Iones, our advisor. One last big event ot the year, the Iunior Prom, has not yet taken place as this is Written, but We plan to have it the banner event of our high school career as a class. 13 Sealed! Treasurer The Sophomore Class is the largest of the classes this year. Most of our good times have been impromptu affairs during school hours, as the large amount of snow and the small amount of gasoline Worked to- gether to limit our evening affairs to one party. This affair was held at the Community House, sponsored by Mrs. Davidson, our advisor. Gage, Weerheim, and Huyck represented the class in the field of sports. All three have earned their letter in varsity football and varsity basketball. 14 THE FRESHMAN CLASS Time has gone very quickly for the Frosh this year. We have participated in a record number of ac- tivities. In our number, We have two cheer-leaders, three basket-ball men, four choristers, two bandsmen, and three foot-ball men. We had quite some fun together Christmas time, at a party in the home of our advisor, Mister Kennedy. We hope that We may continue through high- school as successfully as We have commenced it. AUNT EMMA SEES IT THROUGH I On the evening of the Senior Play, seven very nervous actors and actresses fidgetted backstage. . . Gnce under Way, they showed that they were true actors and the play was one of the most successful in' years. Mrs. Robert Iester conducted early rehearsals and Miss Blanche Keefe guided the group to a suc- cessful performance after Mrs. Iester left the faculty. The play was a three act farce, and kept every- one in stitches from beginning to end. At the close of the second act, a bouquet of flowers was presented to Miss Keefe by Walter Ulmer, Senior President. The evening was one to which the seniors will look back, as one of the memorable events of their high school days. 20 Seated: Adeline Starck, William Ward, Ruth Gottshall, Eleanor Benedict, Henrietta Mein, Iames Carey, and Eleanor Davidson. They won their first game by a comfortable margin, and scored more points than their opponents in the season as a whole. The boys showed spirit and were in there fighting until the final whistle. They drew a difficult opponent in the inter- sectional play-offs, going down before Downsville to the tune of 61 to 20, but wound up the season in good fighting trim, looking forward to next year when the team will be composed almost entirely of seasoned veterans. FOOTBALL The football squad had a not unsuccessful sea- son this year. Training started with 13 men, eight of whom were players last year. During the season, two players were lost, but the team battled its Way thru, coming out with one victory and several fair tries. Defense and blocking caused our boys the most trouble. Due to unsuccessful attempts at passing, the team relied on running plays for most of its gains. Playing quality improved greatly during the season and Coach Iones expects to make a better showing l'1GXl YGCII.
