SOPHOMORE BASKETBALL Coach Captain Manager Bob Stranger Don Zimmerman Richard Margason Football coach Bob Stranger took a hand at basketball and coached the sophomore team. These boys were quick and played a good g:-une but met defeat quite often since they played against boys who were juniors and seniors. Traveling with the Wildcats to out of town games was a new ex- perience for these future stars. These boys practiced every night after school preparing for the weekend game with other schools or local YMCA teams. Some of these sophomores will be playing varsity ball next year. With so many seniors leaving the varsity squad the vacancies must be filled and some of these boys will fill the positions left vacant. K-DETTES The Kellogg K-Dettes are an active group of selected girls. New members are chosen by the old members for their marching ability and appearance. The K-Dettes' routines are made up by the leader and the sub-leaders. 'This at- tractive group performed at football and basketball games, marched in the Music Festival Parade in Lewiston, the Elk's Parade in Kellogg, and the Silver Jubilee Parade in Wal- lace. This year the girls were advised by Mrs. Don Kamp. Coach Ed Hi emstra KELLOGG WILDCATS Co -Captains Jeff Wombolt and Rich Porter led the way through another successful hoop season coached by Ed Hiemstra. Although state champion- ship was not among their gains the Wildcats still proved to be the power house of North Idaho. De- feated only by Couer d' Alene in the district tourna- ment the Wildcats won the conference trophy. Orfino defeated the Wildcats at the regional tournament in Couer d' Alene thus eliminating them from state competition. One over night trip was taken by the team when they played Moscow. A thrill to both players and students was the game against John Rogers High School in the Spokane Coliseum. A basketball dinner was given by the Odd Fel- lows Lodge in honor of the team and cheerleaders. Coach Hiemstra intnroduced the players and cheer- leaders. Co-Captains: Rich Porter and Jeff Wombolt.
