SENIOR B LL Cocktails for Two was the theme for the Senior Ball. The ceil- ing of purple streamers set off by walls of brilliant lavender and white made the gymnasium that night a sight truly pleasing to the eyes. This pleasing array was set off by a poster made by the seniors - a top hat, white gloves and an orchid. Tables situated at the end of the dance floor completed the night-club setting. Those present danced to the music of the Melodians a group from Mullan. Punch and coat-check service wereprovided by the junior high girls. Marsha Tuveson provided added entertainment by giving a gypsy and a tap dance. The dance was well attended and enjoyed by all. 32 4 '. !-il' . -R WI.. .I 'ww Li ' F5 .-.Q-W-.,,... vm. nf. :4:,. f. On entering the dance, one walked up a flight of stairs leading to a coach door. This huge coach was drawn by a fleet- looking white horse. As the couples stepped through the door their sight was immediately settled upon the mural at the opposite end of the room. The mural portrayed a beaufi ful Cinderella dancing with a handsome prince charming. A shimmering, whirling glass ball reflected pools of pink light over the dance floor. However, besides earning a B average in every subject, a candidate must have commendable character, leadership qualities, and he must be active in some serviceable group, either in the community or the school. One of the outstanding functions of the organiza- tion this year was the initiation assembly after the first semester. After the members had been initiated each of the teachers named several of their out- standing students. Thus, a person who was not quali- fied for the Society could receive due recognition. Students who have attained the speed of forty- five words a minute for five minutes in typing, eighty words a minute for five minutes in shorthand, or have earned an A for one semester Of bookkeeping are eligi- ble to join. The highlight of the year for the club was a trip to the University of Idaho. There the club members attended business classes and held conferences with professors at which they learned much about campus life. OFFICERS, L.to R.: Ludel Boyd, Treasurer, Roland Bouchard, President, Marie Mathews, Secretary. RADIO GUILD Radio Guild is one of the hardest working clubs of the school. Each week they produce a radio show en- titled The Cat's Meow. On the program are heard musical requests, interviews, sports events, and at special times, talent from the high school. During the year the program has become very popular. Much of this popularity is due to the natural talent of the Guild members. At one time the organization went on a field trip to a television station and was able to observe how a live show is produced. OFFICERS,L.to RJ Bob Jones, Unit Manager No. 25 Darlene Buroker, Secretary-Treasurerg Dean Shadle, President, Steve McConnell, Unit Manager No. 1. AMERICAN ISM CLUB OFFICERS,L. to R.: Connie Hulbert, Secretaryg Norbert Schueller, Vice Presidentg Dave Mikesell, Presidentg Joe Harvey, Sgt. at Arms. Three major groups make up the Americanism Club. These groups are the anti-communist committee, the student government committee, and the historical committee. One of the projects of the anti-communist committee was to have a guest speaker speak to the Student Body on our American heritage. The student government committee suggested several recommendations for our student control system. It is this committee that is responsible for the conversion to student control in our school. At Christmas time the club sponsored a food drive for needy families. A contest was held between each of the classes to see who could bring the most food. -'N 1 61 WILDCAT CAPERS Under the direction of Mr. Woodbury and the hard work of the individual staff members, the school paper is brought to the hands of the student. Reporting the news around school, inventing interesting features, selling advertisement setting up the layout, and coordinating all these activities under the added pressure of school assignments amounts to quite a job. As an added stimulant to the journalistic aspirations of the group, Mr. Woodbury has made it a requirement that, in order to get a credit for second semester journalism, a stu- dent must have sold one of his works to a publication. The clamor of the students on Caper-Day is ample testimony of a job well done. Editor: Joyce Smith Advisor: Mr. Woodbury Assistants: M. Haynes, Feature Editorg D. Lewis, Business Managerg L. STAFF 62 K-LOG The K-Log crew has a lot of work and headaches. They begin early in the fall and the work isn't finished until the annual is safely in your hands. The students do all the work outside of school on their own time. There is always a rush for deadlines with last minute work to be done. Even though they put in a lot of time and effort they all have a lot of fun working together. Trying to hear the latest news with one ear and keeping their mind on their work is difficult but they manage somehow.
