Joseph Ehrbar Home - This home was built in 1892 by Carpenter, son-in-law of Datus Kelley. Charles Carpenter is Lester Carpenter. The log cabin, which was later tore down, given credit for starting commercial grape growing and building was used to propagate grapes. What is now the garage was the the first wine cellar. Vista Largo - This is a favorite spot to get refreshments 28. Neuman Boat Line - John P. Neuman began Neuman Boat on a hot summer day. The stand is owned and operated by Pat Line in 1911. The first boat was named the Reliance , It and J ay Johnson and family. Across the street, the Island carried freight from Sandusky to Kelleys. After the Reli- House has many fine articles for sale. Kamp Kellile - This was once the Schaedler and Rhein Winery which was built in 1892. It has been converted to a night club owned by Richard Windgate. 33

The Frank Haig Home - Vi Haig operated a restaurant in her home for a good number of years. Many people enjoyed her home cooking. Vi and Frank now rent bikes which enable people to tour the Island. 30. The Post Office and Hancock-Wood Building - The Post Office has been housed in the Hancock-Wood Electric build- ing since September 1974. The electric company has been segyling the Island since 1953. Craft's Bait Shop and Motel - Elmer and Rosie Craft pur- chased the dock and cottages from Captain Hamilton in 1969. Since then they have added the bait shop and motel to the property. . 3 Y 'raw-. The home was built for Captain Hamilton's grandmother as a wedding gift. Capt. Hamilton was a descendent of the Kelleys. Mrs. Hamilton still resides at the home. She is the holder of many interesting Island stories. 35
