Vocational pride GCT, ODP among Co-Op job-related courses Our school prides itself on a well established vocational program. Along with the many Co-Op and job-related classes the program has to offer, both the GCT and ODP classes stand in their own special ways. General Construction Trades CGCTJ is a class with a club. Students in this class get a general knowledge of building with tools. In addition to this knowledge, students learn about electricity, plumbing, carpen- try, painting, masonry and cementing. GCT was under the sponsor- ship of Troy I-lodges. Once again, GCT staged a fundraiser, bringing professional wrestlers to Keller during the summer. Such names as Gary Hart and Ice Man King Parsons were present at the matches. The multiformed Office Duplication and Printing QODPJ classes give students training in the field of printing. The students learn mimeographing skills while learning to work together as a group. , For their fundraiser, ODP sold Valentine's Day pads to the students. The Office Duplication Class was under the sponsorship of Mrs. Raetta Harlan. - DIANA WILLIAMS Are you cop dass. ,- ying? junior Sherena Cary makes a master copy during her OI iff 9 Wrestling for a living - One Man Gang and Ga Hart appeared at a GCT -sponsored wrestling match lz summer. ffice skills stressed OEA, OEA Word Processing students gain business insight Vocational Office Education students learn office skills through the Office Education Association Word Processing clubs offered at Keller. VOE is a class that offers students a half school and half workday situation. The class is designed to give students a better office job after graduating from high school. The students in the clubs are required to be working in an of- fice situation-type job that offers work experience and job training. This class gives me good experience for my plans in later life, said senior Jeannie Sanders. The OEA club is under the sponsorship of Helen Reheau. office jobs. OEA Word Processing is under the sponsorship of Sandy Landry. Students enrolled in this class not only learn about job training, but also learn what is needed to be a successful word processor. Because many students stay with their same job after high school, some offices now pay for a college education while the student works for them. Senior Tammy Statita believes that this is an extra benefit of being involved in a co-op class, along with being able to have money to buy something she'd like. - DIANA WILLIAMS Reheau teaches her students the skills needed to obtain and keep fue. i Preparing to type - 'Q junior Nicole Taylor W5 K' PrePares to WPC during f tet f rii N class while she takes a break XL , to have her picture taken. , ll ' , ' .
