JV cheerleaders 'camp-out' at TCU Take on the 'ultimate challenge' Attending camp at Texas Christian University was the highlight of the JV cheerleaders' schedule. We had an ex- citing and exhausting four days, said freshman Patti Weeks. We were up at 6:50 a.m. and 'lights out' was at 11:50 p.m. but hardly anyone went to sleep before 2:50 a.m., said freshman Heather Hesteri After breakfast, the JV cheerleaders went to cheeraerobics, then around 15 schools formed to make one group and learned two cheers and three chants. After lunch, they practiced what they learned and, after dinner, they had a competition on what they learned during the day. At camp they won four spirit sticks, two blue ribbons, two red ribbons, and were nominated to compete against Var- sity cheerleaders for an award of superiority. During the school year, the JV cheerleaders performed at three pep assemblies. They attended all of the foot- ball games and 10 of the basketball games. They also went to Keller Junior High School and performed at the Dou- ble Your Spirit Day pep assembly. 1 feel it's the ultimate challenge Qbe- ing a cheerleaderj. We work really hard to represent KHS. Ms. CTammyJ Hart is a really caring sponsor and helps us a lot, said freshman Stacy Starkey. They have been a wonderful group to work with. They always do what I want, and more. I love them to death, despite the gray hairs, said sponsor Tammy Hart. - LOREE VARDAS Pyramid making - While attending the Alvarado game, the JV cheerleaders made a pyramid to entertain the crowd. . fn Q l .ff . . ,,., :W , So long - JV cheerleaders have their picture taken one more time at TCU summer camp to show their awards before leaving.
