Drama, Debate Departments have dramatic year Along with the usual summer camps and competitions, there have been dramazzir changes in the Drama and Debate departments. Departure of Mr. Earl Mason and Mrs. Judy Coop Cooper during the year unset- tled students, but both departments recovered. Midyear, Mrs. Taffy Geisel took over both departments. I was amazed at how warmly I was received as the new debate and drama teacher. I really appreciate the way the students have pitched in to make the year a successful one, said Geisel. Also during midyear the addition of Theater I was added and taught by Mrs. Helen Lewis. Competitively the year was a good one qualihed in more that one category. The people that placed at state were Kelly Perkins, fifth place, Scott Lackey, sixth in dramatic interp, and Kristen Blevins, in the top 18 in dramatic interp. In the Mock Trial competition debate students that participated placed second in North Texas regional competition. The members that participated were Bryon Sutherland, Mari Felton, Debbie Yaniko, David Haynes and drama members Sara Kuchelmeister and Andy Criss. The year was also one of festivity. Drama II-V had a Being party. Both departments had a Christmas party and the year ended with the juniors keeping up a five-year tradi- tion of throwing the seniors a farewell party.
