Party Animal - Chip Dickens catches some rays by the Ranchland pool. o boycott Traditional senior trip stays in style after opposition Probably no Senior trip has come as close to being boycotted as this year's. A senior trip is usually thought of as one last op- portunity for the Senior Class to unite as a group and socializeg only the prom and Senior luncheon gives the members a chance for the whole class to get together and provide such fellowship. It's been a tradition for the past five years for the Senior trip to take place at a dude ranch. However, when the ticket sales were announced, many seniors voiced opposition because they hadn't been consulted on the location of the trip and were outraged by the 325 cost it entailed. When, after a week of ticket sales, only eight tickets had been sold, it did indeed look as if the trip would be cancelled. Prin- cipal Bill Newton and the Senior Class sponsors began to voice a true concern over the matter and decided to hold a special meeting to discuss the matter. Newton explained that it was too late to change plans since a 351000 deposit had already been made. Seniors had suggested other possible locations for the trip such as Six Flags, Wet N' Wild or even the lake. These were impossible, however, due to the difficulty of supervision. It was finally agreed that Ranchland was the only possible place for the trip, and the tickets were reduced to 1522. Such a marked opposition concerning the Senior trip may have some bearing on next year's trip, if next year's seniors want a voice in the decision, they need to express their preference early in the year to their senior class officers. - ALEX CHRISTIE xiii.
