Competitive Edge - Varsity player Adam Beebe jumps up to smash a ball dur- ing ptactice to show his Varsity style. Young team overcomes difficult With only three seniors leading the Varsity tennis team, 13 of the 16 Varsity players had very little experience on the Varsity level. The seniors, boys' captain Mark Dumas, girls' captain Georgie Leonard and Shane Cook are very good leaders even though they go about it in different ways, Coach Carey Caldwell said. Playing singles, Mark Dumas won the Cowtown Invitational Tournament. Also at the tournament, Shane Cook and Wade Thieleman advanced to finals. The tennis team gained second place at the Wichita Falls Tennis Tournament with an all-Keller final in the girls' doubles division. Georgie and Samantha Leonard took first place while jane Beebe and Lisa Nelson took second. The team, though, missed a trip to the regionals by one set. They won third place in district competition.
