taking part in the cheering and chanting of DEAD RED. Keep that spirit up - The Varsity cheerleaders form a pyramid at the Grapevine pep rally to boost school spirit on the most important game day ofthe year. Our fighting Indians - Because of the overabundance of school spirit d at the pep rally, the Yarsity football players showed that they were not only ready for the game but alsohready to take on whatever challenge the Mustangs presented by Us-' iq .75 . 4 X ev' isplayed ,'w-.1 ET S? rf It was more than just a game or a rivalry We want this game more than any other game this season! shouted senior Chad Hamill to the stu- dent body at the KellerfGrapevine pep rally. With this comment, the Varsity football players stood up and started to yell. Shouts of DEAD RED filled the air and Keller Indians flags started to wave in an excited anticipation of the evening game to come. WE WANT GRAPEVINEIIV' WE WANT GRAPEVINE!!! And that's exactly what Keller got - Grapevine handed to them on a silver platter. Over SOO cheering students filled the stands at Mustang Stadium that night to help the Indians on to a 27-I4 victory over arch-rival Grapevine High School. Nobody does it better - The Indianettes perform an exciting routine at the pep rally, but encountered some problems in practicing it in preparation due to the TEAMS test given that same week. Nevertheless, the routine was said to have beat out the Grapevine drill team's performance. And for next week - With the Homecoming game following the Grapevine game, Homecoming Queen nominees were announced at the pep rally. Here, senior Scott Boswell congratulates nominee Anissa Wilson. 8 Keller vs, Grapevine WHS Wal' It was an awesome game, junior Eddie Donnelly said at the Keller endzone after the game was over. With Grapevine ahead I4-6 after the third quarter, the Indians rallied for 21 points, scoring with a I-yard run by junior Gary Edmondson, a conversion run by senior jay Kinsey, and a 7-yard run by senior Brad White in the last three minutes ofthe game, on which White suffered an injury. In any event, the night was meant for celebration. Following the game, students went to the Keller Pizza Inn, where packets of Sweet and Low and non-dairy creamers were thrown at some Grapevine crashersf' or went to the victory party at senior Scott Boswells house immediately following the game. - DIANA WILLIAMS

With old traditions broken and new traditions started Homecoming keeps its special magic I was ecstatic! It was somethin that I dreamed about, but g never hoped of achieving, senior Paige Bradley said about being named the l985 Homecoming Queen. Although the tradition of naming the Homecoming Queen stayed the same, there were some variations in the proceedings. Two added features were having a spirit chain at the Homecoming pep rally and announcing the names of the Homecoming Queen nominees at the Grapevine pep rally a week before the Homecom- ing game was played. As new traditions were started, some old traditions were put to an end. The annual Homecoming dance was put to an end in favor of a Halloween dance. In addition to this change, the Homecoming parade was deleted mainly due to the fact that six weeks exams Breakthrough - The Varsity cheerleaders, with the help of the Spirit ream, help hold up the sign s for the Varsity football team to run through. Vision of Loveliness - Nominee Rhonda Moore is greeted by Prncipal Bill Newton during the halftime crowning of Homecoming Queen. Moore is escorted by her father. J coincided with it and students were too busy studying. The bonfire remained an unchanged tradition, after it was re- vived in l984. The night before the Homecoming game, over l5O students showed up at the bonfire to cheer the Indians on to a win against opponent Diamond Hill. The bonfire was really great. There were a lot of people there so that made it even better, junior Diana Williams said. Putting the final touch on the Homecoming festivities was the crowning of Homecoming Queen Paige Bradley. Bradley was among five nominees to receive this honor. The nominees included Anissa Wilson, Rhonda Moore, Stace Mobley, Necye Fails and jill Hasty. - ALEX CHRISTIE R ,sjlilillllll IHC-3 - WCB g Homecoming Halftime - The Indianettes always do something extra special for halftime and, with the help of the marching band, do an intricate step stool routine.
