Indians kick rivals Wins over Grapevine highlight soccer's second season Impressive wins over Grapevine by both the boys' and girls' varsity teams highlighted soccer's second season as a varsity sport. The 22-member boys' squad, coached by Robert Butler, beat the arch-rival Mustangs 4-1 in district play. In similar action, the 17-member girls' squad, coached by Beth Hobensach, won 3- 1. The boys finished the season with two wins and eleven losses. The girls ended the year 3-10 with two ties. Despite the records, We were much more competitive this year than last year. The team as a whole performed much bet- ter, Butler said of the boys' team. Top players on the boys' team included Tim Theodore, Kevin Buchanek and Brad Benson. I felt that towards the end of the season we pulled together as a team and played to our ful potential. Top players on the girls' team included Tanya Fultz, Christi Tillison, joelee Strickland, Renee Melot and Tammy Allen. Butler commented on the announcement near the end of th soccer season that the school will move up to class SA fo 1986-87. Not many 4A schools have a soccer team so it won't affecti us at all, he said. The soccer team competed in a district that included Bell, Trinity, Grapevine, Grand Prairie, Denton and Lewisville.
