As they 'got it together' Their skills improved Get It Together was the motto for the Varsity volleyball team. To show this spirit, the Varsity volleyball team worked very hard this year, said Coach Louise Bailey. Although there were some downfalls, there was some improve- ment as the year went on. There were some exciting matches this year. When we played Castleberry at Keller this year the players did an outstanding job even though we lost, said Coach Bailey. Other exciting matches were when the team won first place in the Fort Worth Tournament, beating three 5-A schools in two games each. This was quite an accomplishment for the Varsity volleyball team, said Coach Bailey. The season overall was one of gaining much ground and achieving many goals. The athletes came together as a team through the season and learned to work together as a unit. Their skills improved, said Coach Bailey. Team members were seniors Melanye Chittum, Brooke Newton, Tia Rosser and Christi Tillison, juniors Anna Franklin, jennifer Gunn, Kim Moore, Stacey Newton, Shelly Price and Marcia Swope, and sophomore Can- dy Crawford. Tia Rosser was named lst Team All District. Christi Tillison was named 2nd Team All District. Honorable Mention went to Shelly Price and Jennifer Gunn. The Varsity volleyball team had a season record of 13-1 1, district record of 6-4. They came in third place in District Zone play. - MELANYI CHITTUM ,as , ,ws ,i , Bumping during iff? JV team wins six Squad does well overall, coach says HI feel we had a really good year. Even though we lost a lot of our starters, we pulled together and had a good season, junior Keith Pearson said. With a total of 20 players, the junior Varsity football team finished the year with six wins, three losses and one tie. Leading the offense were junior Scott Watson and sophomores Ron Cardwell, jeff Boswell and Kevin Smith. Leading the defense were sophomores Mike Dickens and Wade I-Iaydenrich. junior varsity Coach David Park felt the team did well overall. With eight wins and only two losses, the Freshman team had a record of which they were proud. Kevin Massey, the leading rusher for the team, made 563 yards in 86 carries. Brian Black led in passes with 594 yards Whilf leading receiver Gary Goodyear received 35 passes for a total ol 5 12 yards.
