Fighting off the block - Defensive player blocks at Castleberry's homecoming. Heading for paydirt - Keller player runs toward the endzone for an easy six points. 'Dead Red' Varsity beats Grapevine for first win As chants of Dead Red filled the Indian side of the stadium the night of the long-awaited Indian-Mustangs game, the Varsity football team won its first game of the season. On its home turf, the Mustangs fell 27-14 to the Indians. The Indians' only other win occurred at Homecoming as they defeated Diamond Hill 31-6. In ten games, the Varsity team's offense rushed for 2106 yards on 438 carries, an average of 4.8 yards per carry. Quarterbacks completed 49 out of 141 passes for 562 yards, an average of 3.9 yards per attempt and 11.4 per completion. Senior Chad Hill led the team in passing, and sophomore Kevin Buchanek led the team in receiving. Take your best shot! - Keller player tempts Castleberry player to Bring it on. Excuse me - Castleberry player attempts to tackle 196459 Rod Dearing. 102 Varsity Football On defense, seniors Brian Harlan and Neil Barton led the team in tackles. The varsity team averaged 15 points a game and scored in 21 out of 40 quarters. Head Coach Bill Bryant and the football team opened the season expecting to challenge arch-rival Grapevine and perennial state power Wichita Falls Hirschi for a spot in the state playoffs.
